Hi everyone,
does anyone know of any freeware to convert text from a .pdf or .doc to mp3?
The only ones I can find are shareware or need to be purchased outright.
Thanks in advance for your help.

How can you convert text to sound?0

You're confused brinky. mp3 is a file system used for music. mp3 won't work for text.

There's a free program that comes with Ubuntu called espeak.
You can type in text from the keyboard or point it at a text file.
Then you can listen to it live or save it as a WAV file.
But it sounds like a Dalek.
