Free Cabs in London Zones 1 & 2 Mon 30/05 to Fri 03/06
Someone sent me this - I've no idea whether it is actually true and absolutely no idea on how to check it out:

Zones 1 & 2
Starting on May 30th and running until Friday 3rd June, women in London will be able to catch cabs in Zones 1 & 2 for free. Not all cabs, of course, but those that are engaged in promotion for the new Andrex Quilts campaign.
It's not going to be difficult to spot the fleet of pale lilac and white taxis - largely because they're that colour, seemingly wrapped in what looks like a soft quilt and featuring everyone's favourite advertising puppy seemingly asleep on the bonnet.
All women will have to do on spotting the cab is flag it down (assuming that there's no one else inside) and hop in! Men will also be allowed in the cabs - but only if women hailing the cab deem them worthy.

Gosh, how impressively sexist. Well that should be OK. I just hope my female friends don’t mind being dragged from pillar to post to enable us to do a major shop in Oxford Street!

Could you just imagine the whingeing and gurning if it had have said 'free cabs for men'????? There would have been mass protests on the streets ... blatant sexism. Its about time the women were tied back to the kitchen sink again .. can't get a flamin cab because of all the flamin women these days

Well you might call it sexist, but it says to me that they expect women to be more tied to the shopping for bog roll and more easily influenced by puppies and pretty colours so it's actually showing women's weaker attributes. You should be pleased Ivan, though you're not going to get anywhere strung up in your protective tackle! Torgwen..........

Tell her to get a free map of the London Underground available at all stations, on which the zones are marked. Zones 1 and 2 are the ones covering the centre of London.0 -
I'm a woman, in fact I would go so far as to describe myself as a feminist. I believe in true equality of the sexes: in the ability of both men and women to express who they are without their gender ever being an issue.
This kind of promotion naturally leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.
I've put a complaint in to the Advertising Standards Agency and Equal Opportunities Commission and I suggest anyone who feels the same way should also do this.0 -
