If you tell us what type of pc you want maybe someone can find you all the bits or a price range.
Building a pc is very easy the first one always takes the longest to build the second one is a lot faster and so on lol.
My last build was an FX60 with dual 7900 BFG graphics cards runs sweet.
You do get a lot better performance from a self made pc read this http://gadgetshow.five.tv/jsp/5gsmain.jsp?lnk=401&featureid=228&pageid=-1&show=s5e6§ion=Features
Here are some links for building a pc:

Ermm yes I'll second the above post
The spec above is exactly what I am looking for in a PC, apart from the warranty (got burnt by multivision !) I would be most grateful if one of you guys in the know could collate the relevant info for us proles to maybe consider building one of our own machines. I'm certainly up for giving it a go and would love the challenge.
PS.. perhaps with 256 graphics !

I have looked and I can not find that spec for that money.
Its the Vista home premium that throws it off.
With Vista premium you will want 2gig to run it nicely, mine uses 1 gig while idling
Dual layer DVD is an odd one, no one ever copies on a dual layer drive, this is because the cost of these DVDs is silly
Why NVidia gfx? At this end of the price range, ATi are no worse than NVidia.
If you can find a pc that fits the bill with out the tuner, you can buy a USB one for £30

And what advantage do you believe dual core will bring you, at this price range you will end up skimping somewhere else in the build.
Ignoring the nvidia gfx, warranty and tv card and you can spec the Dell E520 to fit the bill for £443, drop the hard drive down to 160gb and its £408 inc vat and delivery.0 -
Yeah but the computer from Dell is worse and costs more. Anyway I bought the Aldi one and it is an awesome pc, Windows Vista is pretty cool, tons of new featues, and it runs games and apps super fast.0

yeah i have always knew its better if you can buildyour own pc but liek the above peeps are saying you cant get it for that price, its too good to be true specially with 3 year warrenty its almost a disposable pc after 3 years you'll want better anyway and if not it should last, still thinking of getting this PC, has anyone bought it whats it like any problems etc is it still in stock and same price???One Man & His Mission To Save £1 Million :beer:0

I must admit I had not looked at the specs of the Aldi pc at the time, its awesome for the money.
Admittedly I would be putting another gig of ram in it in the next year or so, other wise it looks a great buy.

whats the best things about it

It's a good price, but Vista is basically XP but slower with better GUIs and the nVidia card doesn't look up to much. Worth it for a mid range range pc if you absolutely don't want to build.0
