New Challenge? Organisation...

HOLsale

i was just thinking of a post i made recently concerning using printable forms from the organised home
http://organizedhome.com/
i mentioned the freezer and panty forms (printed on the back of junk mail of course!) but i got to thinking that my hall cupboard and my big kitchen cupboard desperately need cleaning out. we have far too much stuff and i've been meaning to have a boot sale anyway.
so why not have a spring clean /organisation challenge?
we could use the pantry forms, taped or blue tacked to the inside of the cupbard door (could do this on your wardrobes as well if you like) and we can make lists of every sort of thing in the cupboard and where it is (ie box of linen sheets, bottom left shelf) of course as you're doing this you can find items that need to be binned, given to charity or that you can sell on ebay or boot sales etc.
i'm definately going to do this even if no one else takes me up on it but it just seemed like making it a challenge would inspire more people to become motivated enough to do it (you know you've been putting it off
)
i guess it would help if i gave the link for the forms as well http://organizedhome.com/printable.html

these are a good idea - I do regular inventories of what I have in my cupboards and freezer and meal plan from those - but I am never quite organised to actually add stuff onto the lists as I put them away!
I suppose I shop a bit differently to most people anyway and I usually only buy things that are reduced or on offer so I plan after the event from what I have in rather than thinking about what i wold like to eat. strict budget see
today I am soaking pulses to make a mexican bean thing which I shall serve with tortillas and salad. yum.Blah0 -
Ooh you know how to make a girl hungry, Vanoonoo!
I certainly like the idea of this challenge HOLsale. I've been meaning to sell a load of my old clothes on ebay for ages, and I've only got as far as filling a bin bag with the ones I want to sell, but I know I can add more. Then I need to get on with the photos, listing, etc, etc....and this is probably just the kick up the backside I need, thank you!0 -
heehee - I'll send you the recipe if it turns out ok ms_thrift.
anyway - I think this is a great challenge - my garage is full of my mums house at the moment so this could be something we could tackle an hour a day this month maybe. or one shelf or drawer at a time. she cant manage that much more and I cant really do it for her cos I dont know what she wants to keep and what she wants to throw out.
fantastic household management challenge - thank you!Blah0 -
This sounds a bit more achieveable (for me anyway) than the other challenges. I'm find myself sitting in a mess of books, papers, clothes etc thinking about a household budget but really getting nowhere. I need some sort of household cleaning/tidying rota that isn't totally scary (tried flylady but couldn't deal with all those emails), and also some sort of system for knowing what food I've got in. Once I've got all that lot sorted then maybe I can properly tackle my household budget.
Count me in, this sounds like the push I need to get on top of things!0 -
Oh dear, how sad am I.
I couldn't keep my cupboards any more organised if I tried. When I was a teen, I had the proverbial bedroom from hell - but then I went away to boarding school (scolarship, not paid), and my room mate lived in a tip. It kind of gave me the impetus to tidy my act up, which has stayed with me ever since.
My wardrobe, airing cupboards, Toiletries cupboard, kitchen cupboards, under stairs cupboard, study etc are practically regimented. This helps me out so much as I am quite forgetful and disorganised otherwise. I even have 2 metal briefcase type things for bills, documents and guarantees etc.
However, the OH lives like a living land slide. His wardrobe and cupboards.......well. Suffic to say I have given up tidying them - if he likes them like that - why shouldn't he.
All I can say is good luck peeps - being organised really does make life easier for me."It was not my intention to do this in front of you. For that, I'm sorry. But you can take my word for it, your mother had it comin'."

Hmm, I'm not organised by nature but I'm getting more so. With children and teenagers around, it's a battle but it does make life easier. It's also the bit of feng shui that makes most sense to me. When I completely clear and clean a room or cupboard I feel positive just looking at it - all that energy!0

Have you tried the Flylady book? I've registered on the website but opted not to receive the e-mails. I find it a lot easier to just dip into the book when I need it and when I slip a bit (like the current holidays) I find it good to dip back in and get motivated again.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Book Moggins? You say there is a flylady book?! Nobody told me about this! I guess it's available via their website however I had no intention of buying a feather duster or "clingie" (whatever that is!) so didn't look at the shopping page. Maybe I should give it a go after all. I started making a folder - printing off routines and things but it's just so detailed/pedantic and I find it v.hard to keep the interest and enthusiasm up.
Luis, your house sounds like it my fantasy home!! Right now on my desk (which is really my dining table but is in my bedroom) I have: a P45, cereal bowl, mug, yoghurt tub, two tubes of toothpaste, roll of masking tape, empty ink cartridge, hairbrush, fancy camera, a big pile of receipts to check off against bank statements, two calendars, diary, hand cream, plus all the other bits & pieces normally found on a desk eg computer, pens etc. I believe there is a saying "tidy house, tidy mind" - which would explain a lot as I create this clutter without even realising I am doing it. Boy do I need to take part in this challenge big style!!!0 -
Nope it was available from Amazon, can't get it from the UK one anymore but they are still selling it on the American one.
Sorry I mean to say it's called Sink Reflections by Marla CilleyOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things
