NewNet Disgraceful Price Hike

Options
I have been with NewNet for a few months since leaving (escaping?) TalkTalk and was very happy with their service. I was getting 6.5 meg speed and a 60Gig download limit for £21.95. The service was very reliable and I couldn't recommend them highly enough...

...until this afternoon, when myself and other NewNet customers received an email about price increases. My charge from February, for exactly the same service, will go up from £21.95 to £34.95. Over 50% higher in one foul swoop, with no prior hints that this may have been coming or any increase in bandwidth to try to soften the blow. Or even an apology for the dramatic rise.

I think it is absolutely disgusting and have emailed NewNet for a MAC code straight away before I attempt to look for another ISP. I hear that UKFSN.org is a good site, so I will have to check them out.

I would imagine (and hope) NewNet will be losing a lot of customers over this.

Just been reading about this on the adslforums, not many happy chappies there, hell of a price rise.

    .
I've been with UKFSN since April this year, 1mth contract, UK based support through enta 24/7 and Jason who runs UKFSN is second to none, answers emails straight away and will intercede with enta if they are dragging their feet, and you'll usually find him lurking on the enta forum.
Just got their new 3rd 622mb central pipe installed and have already ordered the 4th one for April, and are now talking about ordering 5,6 and 7 pipe.
So they are investing and looking to the future, which is a very good sign.
Best isp I've been with and I've been with a few.
Here's the UKFSN site and their packages/prices here

    Hope this helps
  • can highly recommend ukfsn. Not had an issue so far. 'tested' calling their (entanet supplied) support desk and was answered in less than 15 seconds and helpfull advise given.
  • I think I will be requesting my MAC on tuesday, although my package is only going up by £3 per month it is starting to get a bit pricey. I was thinking of giving ukfsn a try anyway because of there big off peak allownaces. The price rise has just given me the reasons to do it.

Yeah I've just got back home after a hectic few days traveling to see my mum who is pretty ill in hospital so just got this email just now. Joined them in September gone and moved my mum across to them a couple of months ago as well. Cant believe this - but the solution is simple and thats to exercise consumer power and hit them for mac codes and shift providers (ukfsn is the way forward i reckon), i was on the adslmax 100GB package - 100GB usage at £35ish / mnth - im a high user and moving house meant shifting from 10Mb/s telewest so it seemed to suit bestm but now to get the same level i would be paying £62.95 per month - i mean come on for fsck sake!!!!.

anyway tired emotional rant finished and thank you newnet for the excellent service - oh yeah apart from a couple of months ago when you screwed up your usage scripts and wanted to bill me for huge bandwidth usages that simply didnt exist.

    anyway over and out.
