Thats great news, well done for selecting a decent company over buying the cheapest policy.

P.S Your name is a bit optimistic at the moment!
  • As I posted earlier, the Post Office, who some may not realise are also Fortis have come through too. I chose them after considering advice on here.

What we need in the future is a list of all the insurance companies that paid out and a list of the insurance companies that didn't, so we know who to avoid in the future.

Have travel insurance through Alliance & Leicester - free with premier account. Due to fly tomorrow morning at 10.00. Rang insurers (Fortis) if holdiay cancelled all costs will be covered.

My family are in the middle east with two policies.

Post office(fortis) will cover departure delay compensation.Claim form sent and advice given on friday.

Saga, hopeless.Offices closed from Saturday 1pm.
Contacted them today and will not assist on anything.
With their departure delay compensation you have to actually check in before claiming ie if the flight is cancelled does not apply
Lady said she had actually advised lots of people and genuinely sounded sorry.

Were not covered (axa) as its an act of god.

DF says that if axa are claiming its an act of god, then surely they would first have to prove that god existed before making such a claim.

If i were to make a claim against my insurance, i would have to provide significant evidence for my claim, seems like 1 rule for us and another for them.

I also find it slightly amusing that airlines are complaing because they arent insured for such events, but expect the tax payers to give them a handout in compensation, yet when it comes to their customers, they dont extend the same courtesy.

Well Jennifer - I have been doing that for (however many years on here) but unfortunately people buy on price and not decent cover. Buy cheap and get a claim then wonder why the insurers won't pay - you REALLY do get what you pay for - Post Office & Fortis are THE best value for money I truly beleive and I've never been insured by them or do I have shares!!!

Good for you Fortis - I knew you'd do right.

Columbus on their website say they are covering this and automatically extending the period of cover of anyone on a single trip policy. So good for them. I chose them as I reckoned they offered good cover at good price. Worth paying a little more for.

Here's a can, open it you'll find some worms!

I suggested to Europ Assistance (same view as Axa) that if God wanted to stop aircraft flying he would just not let their engines start. This decision was the CAA's and the Government. They are not God, they just think they are!

  • I'm with All Clear (first assist) and checked with them on Saturday and they are covering us if we were cancelled, which we were, although we've done a reroute and they've moved the single trip policy dates with no extra costs for 'admin'.

All Clear are for pre med conditions, first assist are Halifax insurance.
