i generally like to read all the posts, but for the odd one or two i don't, i use a firefox extension called FfvB vBulletin Management.
it lets you ignore users, and then you don't see their posts, even if you're not logged in to mse. i find that really annoys any trolls!
it also lets me "ignore" threads, so i don't have to see threads i'm not interested in (or stickies!) again, even when i'm not logged in.
it also lets me ignore specific avatars if i don't want to see them, rather than just turning them all off - however, once i've done that, i can't seem to get it to un-ignore them!
thanks to savemoney who i saw post this extension. it's great.
Hi. Doesnt MSE let you ignore users anyway? Isnt it easier just to not read a thread that you arent interested in rather than setting it up to be ignored? Im not very "techie" so dont understand why this is of any benefit. Wouldnt you just be quicker logging in so your MSE ignore settings kick in anyway? Sorry for all the questions but am interested to understand how this works. Cheers!:smileyhea0 -
You'll always get these turds on boards which aren't properly moderated. Also the problem is exacerbated by the sad fact there's a heck of a lot of morons in this cyber world. They have little or no human contact and have been let out on license to play with computers.0

i thought you could add a thread to an ignore list in mse, but i can't seem to find out how to do it now? maybe someone else knows.
anyway, for me, the "ignore thread" function is not to stop me reading the thread! it's to remove it from the board. now when i visit the freebies board for example, i don't have to scroll down past a dozen stickies to find the first freebie, and i can remove long-running threads i'm not interested in, from the board, like the free cinema tickets thread or the cosmetics research thread.
for one reason or another, it's not always convenient to be logged in, so this extension does the job when i'm not.0 -
Everyone being so rude to one another? where?...is way wrong statement, few are rude to people on here regularly and they are usually PPR'd very quickly!
well pointed out, i'm sorry, i should rephrase that.......not everyone is rude, but i start reading a thread, and somewhere through it there is usually someone who snaps at another member or posts an inappropriate comment. for ages i've ignored them and just carried on reading, but i feel its quite common now, in the posts ive been reading anyway..... it just seems silly to offend someone you dont know, its not factual, it just gets annoying seeing someone who posted a genuine comment or concern be insulted.........where is the human decency in that?0 -
I have to totally agree that it is a real shame how rude some people are; for example i posted a thread in the benefits section and people were so disgustingly rude i got the whole thread pulled
i though this was a one off until i kidly posted about a raw food diet for pets and got shot down in flames and grilled by the resident vet who wanted me to proved proof, stats you name it and then accused me of bing wrong, wrong wrong.. strangely though when i asked them to play ball and provide evidence and give opinion they went all quiet!
Has really really put me off posting on here but at the same time I really enjoy talking to people and sharing ideas :-(0 -
I put rude people on ignore list, and it stays that way.Owed out = lots. :cool:0
