It is true that one is not allowed to work or repair lead these days.
Try contacting Arfurrrr on here. He is in your area:)0 -

Copper shouldn't be soldered to lead, you should use brass. But that isa thing of the past. You need to use a lead-lock or philmac now.
That reminds me i will have to weigh-in all the sticks of solder i have:eek: And throw away my petrol blowlamp.0 -
Hi
Got a leaking lead pipe and apart from ripping up a fully tiled bathroom floor we need to try and solder, mend, fix, join the lead pipes or work some magic with them.
A couple of younger plumbers have taken a look but they only want to rip the whole bathroom floor up and replace all the lead with plastic.
The bathroom floor is a decent size coupled with the fact that the same tiles are on the bathroom walls so we dont want to rip them all up unless we really have to.
Ideally looking for a plumber who many years ago served his apprenticeship in lead and knows all the tricks of the trade to give us a plan B.
Ideally north Leeds, but would pay for someones time from further afield.
Thanks
Rich
Any good plumber should be able to wipe a patch on the pipe.0 -
