Have put in for a grant for walk in shower and stair lift for my o/h. Had an assessment before christmas but as we were hoping to sell the only option was some handrails and chair risers . The ot did say if we decided to stay we would be entitled to a stair lift and walk in shower amongst other things.
Now all we have to do is wait for another home visit to sign some forms and wait for the grant to be approved. Our ot said that there wont be any problems as he is top of the list due to his mobility needs.
Will let everyone on the board know of our progress as I know some people are unsure about contacting social services ect.

Is this the first time youve delt with things like DFGs?0 -
If you are selling up, why do you need a grant for anything at all?
If youre moving out your wasting someone elses money, if whoever buys your place doesnt need themmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Hi Mkneff . Maybe I was not clear enough in my post. My partner is too sick to move now. Hence grant.
Sunnyone yes its the first time we have dealt with the grants.0 -
I though so!
Dont beleive a word they say, even a quad has to wait 2-3 years in general and often the help is too late, if it did happen you do know that you cant move for 5 years or you have to pay it all back?0 -

My son needed a downstairs bathroom. It took about three months for approval and another six months for tenders and for work to begin. Everything was completed in under ten months, but maybe we were lucky.0

Ive had a grant for my son and my parents had the same as OP - both jobs done extremely quickly. I think it depends on whether there is still money in the fund. New tax year starts April and therefore a new pot hopefully so shouldnt be too long
fingers crossed for you 0 -
My partners grandmother has recently applied and all will be done in less than 6mths. I applied for a downstairs shower, they came out an assessed two weeks later and I had the financial assessment done over the phone. They said I would have to pay 100% of the costs due to my husbands wage so we cannot afford to do it!0

Hi our council has a waiting time of 156 days but sooner if your considered priority. We live in Sefton Liverpool. Im sure that its different in other areas. Hopefully it will be sorted out sooner rather than later. Fingers crossed.:)0
