The cook where I used to work made some with bran flakes, dried fruit, nuts and seeds - I think she just stirred them into melted chocolate, but they were so delicious, and the fruit gave them that little extra squishy stickiness. And healthy(ish) too. From what I recall she used mixed nuts and pumpkin seeds most often, but often changed them.

I have just tried to make these again...
And the chocolate has gon a bit weird and lumpy :(
There is no way it could coat a rice crispy :(

    I used 400g chocolate...
    A large tbsp golden syrup
    and about 50g butter...

Can I add anything to make the chocolate runny enough to coat the crispys ??? :(
Or is it destined for the bin ??

Oh wow, I've never used real chocolate in mine, but they're chocolatey, sticky and yummy:

    butter or marg
    sugar
    cocoa powder
    golden syrup

Put everything in a bowl or pan and melt it together. Add rice crispies or cornflakes and spoon into cases.

I don't measure quantities, I just go by taste - I have been known to put a spoonful of each into a mug, bung it in the microwave, mix in a few rice crispies and eat while warm. NB, this is why I need to lose 20lbs...
That sounds like how my dad made them:j:j:j:jsometimes with sultanas and sometimes made with Bran Flakes:drool::drool::drool:

I think you may have over cooked the chocolate:o
Dunno if adding a little bit of hot milk would thin it down any?smiley-confused005.gif

It was hardly in there ... Melted, I mixed it all up, and then LUMPY :cry::cry:

I might try a bit more unsalted butter...
Then if it doesnt work, its in the bin :(

:think: was it all totally melted though, cos sometimes it can be sneaky?:D

I would use it anyway, nothing like a bit of texture to them anyway:rotfl:

Oh... there is plenty of texture in there...
    And it was totally melted.
    I have started again :(
Just melting chocolate, no additions this time.

The other chocolate mixture was obviously destined not to coat crispys, but oats, and this will be used in some way, to make chocolate twinks ;):D

I know.. I just wondered if this had happened...
But as this was the first time I had put in additions, I wasn't sure if these would have caused it.
    All done now...
Normal chocolate crispy cakes, no additions.
Spare bowl of chocolatey "stuff" to turn into something else ;):p

Oh ,I like the sound of all these(for DD as I don't like chocolate), But another question to throw in the mix.....I have quite a few chocs and toffees from Thorntons left over from Christmas....would these work if they have nutty/oaty bits in????
    TIA xx
