I Missed the Aldi Boat! Any similar PC with 3 years for the price ??

This is the spec for the latest offering from Aldi on Thursday. Despite the snow most of the branches I have tried say they had people queing when they opened ! I am VAT registered and we are looking for a new PC. We use it for letter writing, emails and watching iplayer etc. The children do play some games on it occasionally but not very new. Would like it to be able to display on a second monitor (large TV) and record TV via the USB dongle thing we have!

The big thing that impressed me with Aldi is past experience when there was a problem. I have found that as long as I keep the receipt there is no problem with help, replacement or refund for 3 years!

I've copied the advert from my emails.

You couldn't even get that spec for that price if you self built, let alone a 3 year warranty. They truly are a steal when they come out, hence why people que. Its like being given a bmw m5 for the price of an m3.

    Sorry lol.

Self build would be your best option.

    What is your exact budget?
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

It was £350 all but a penny, and a true deal. You just have to wait for another deal to come around, I have give up waiting for a full size laptop and have had to order from dell. Do you get the weekly email of offers from Aldi? (and Lidi for that matter but they dont do computers). Then you can go and join the Q. I did 6 years ago for a Gericom Laptop and its still going strong today.

My budget would be under £400

Sorry I didn't quote the price.

Guess I'll have to wait a while .... they did not seem to move the laptops as quickly last time they did a laptop special. Indeed, there are still some hanging around some stores (from my tour yesterday!)

    well actually you could :)

The PC is an odd spec though imo, Quad core CPU (OTT in most cases) paired with a low spec graphics card (although adequate for most that dont play recent games).

Well, you couldn't. The Aldi PC was £350. Unless you are getting bits at cost price somewhere the parts costs alone (from Scan who are pretty cheap) are:

    Core 2Quad 8300 CPU: £110
    Motherboard: £35
    2x 2Gb RAM: £70
    1Tb DISK: £63
    DVD Writer: £17
    Video card: £25
    Case and PSU: £25
    Windows OEM: £60
    Keyboard + mouse: £10

    Thats £415.00

Lets assume you can get a mad discount and get them all for 10% less - that's still £373.50; and before any delivery charge or the build/test/install time. Plus the Aldi system came with some bundled software and a warranty.
