Although this account is operated exclusively by post, the Coventry do turn paperwork, all paperwork, around the day they receive it, so delay will be minimal.

Another thing is if you need to pay in money (min £1000) you can do so by a normal bank transfer (and they accept faster payments) quoting the last eight digits of the account number and Coventry's sort code.

I have the first issue of the 1st Class Postal which I opened in Sept 09.

Mmm, wonder how many weeks before they drop the rate on that one once theyve netted you.

have you ever had an account with them? as they seem to be very fair with rates/accounts as in they dont just drop the rate.

Well my account still pays the same as when I opened it in Sept 2009. There was an issue 2 of the account that paid less, but I see they have raised the rate on that one to 3.30%! Unless that is a mistake :p. So seems the opposite is true!!

If it's 'top-paying', how much is it paying?

It shouldn't be too much to ask for a summary of a 'news story' to be shown in the OP. Life's too short to go messing with links for everything!

They've probably had quite a few quid going out recently - last 'really great' account was a 6.25% 1 year fix ending 31/12/09. Extension offer was a bit so-so (3.5% pa for 16 months) - I moved the cash (part NS&I, part short pause for better rates), suspect many others have as well.

wasnt that account when rates were high? - think that was the last of all great paying accounts everywhere. seeing as the base rate dropped so much.

I went for their 4.5% 3 year Poppy Bond (3) offer, the other offer was the automatic maturity account for those with maturing 6.25% Poppy Bond (1) accounts.

High relative to now for sure. BoE rates were on the way down then (Nov 08). People were scrabbling around to get hold of these sorts of rates.
