Hey Everyone,

Spam.Jam started a thread that has been running throughout 2009 for a VSP (Virtual Sealed Pot) Challenge and since this years challenge has now ended and no one has started a new one for 2010 - Here it is!!! :j

Linky to the 2009 challenge

The aim is very Simple!!
Every Friday the aim is to transfer the pounds and pence to round it down to the next nearest £10. So if you have £36.78 in credit you will transfer £6.78, or £20.04 in credit you would transfer £0.04 only. The 'virtual sealed pot' bit about it is, for me anyway, a savings account that is not attached to my bank account and that I cannot dip into whenever I wanted to. I do forget about it which is what the intention is!

Everyone is welcome to come and join in and I will be continuing on from this years challege. If anyone wants to set themself a target for thier savings please let us know.

Good Luck everyone
:)

New thread - yay! :D Are we counting the 2010 challenge from today then? My ultimate target is to reach £1k in the VSP account as it's my 'safety net' account in case I need to dip into it and don't want to use my savings. I'm going to set my 2010 target at another £400 but that might be a bit ambitious!
ISA savings: £25,139 Other Savings: £1750 (tied up in bond)

    Hi,

I'd like to do this again this year. I have a savings account that is so old-fashioned it has a passbook and I can only access it at a branch or just see the balance online. Ideal for this challenge as this pot is also my safety net.

Are you assigning numbers as I joined very late last year and never got one?

The last thread was abandoned by the OP quite early on in 2008 and a lot of people didn't ever get a number as he or she wasn't around to update the list and assign numbers. Not sure whether it's best to start again and assign numbers on this thread?

Hello all and thanks Palema for shiny new thread! :D :T

I will be starting again after christmas paydate. I'm not sure what I am saving up for but I am sure something will come to light.

I am using an internet saver account for my VSP and transferring the odd pounds and pence in every Friday, and also whatever is left in my account (if any!) the day before payday.

Will post on here again soon with a target :)
All the coffee in Columbia won't make me a morning person... :D:p

Hi everyone, can I join in on this one please it seems such a simple idea and also quite achievable too, I am in the position of not having an overdraft so I must pay attention and not let my account get to that stage so I see this as a positive, I also have a savings account I started some time ago and never really got going with it properly so at this moment in time it holds the princely sum of £1.14 :o I will use this account to put my little odds and ends into throughout the year and hopefully have something to buy Christmas presents with this time next year, I do not have a card for this account and can only transfer out of it via online banking so I hope this will deter me from dipping into it now and then :rotfl:
:) Been here for a long time and don't often post
