can a company just end a contract

What does the contract state regarding notice of termination of contract? It will definitely be more than the couple of hours you were given! Did they pay you in lieu of notice?0

I got in the room at 4.30 in the afternoon what I think my employer feels was notice was the 3 weeks from 29th july till september 7th that he gave me minus 10 days that I had booked already as a holiday so at most he could say is 3 weeks sorry and also in the next bit it says you should have a weeks notice in writing or by a payment in lieu of notice. All I got was paid till the 7th and any OT due (and I din't have to work from the 29th till the 7th Sept). I hope this makes sense.
They also have 8 witnesses but they are not factual and based on any evidence supplied and also they are all drinking friends or the actual owner or they were given no choice due to worries with there contracts where as I have supplied evidence of customers being very satisfied with my work but no witnesses as they are all scared of being fired if they were to give me a witness statement.0 -

If your contract states 4 weeks notice then you should be paid that amount.
You should also be paid any accrued holiday.
The problem you have is that if your employment was terminated on 29 July you have waited too long to raise the issue. You have 3 months from the date of dismissal so, based on this, until 28 October.
If you have a P45 or letter showing that your employment was terminated on 7 September, then you would have until 6 December to claim.
I am sorry, dont think you are going to get anywhere on this, but suggest that you contact ACAS in case there is any loop hole we have not thought about.0 -
