    It's keeping money you earned for yourself.

    That is a completely different dynamic to taking money from the state that you didn't earn and that you don't need.

    I should imagine that fuel payments could be means tested by just paying to those who need the minimum income guarantee, simple I would have thought :confused:

    Some of the people that need it most are those that just miss the minimum income gaurantee. In fact if you are just above you can bee worst off than people getting it.

    The government makes the law people are only complying with it when they minimise their tax bill

    There is some truth in that, my uncle and aunt get it and go over to Calais and stock up their wine supplies, they are absolutely loaded, they also claim to be great Christians and do gooders, if this is the case I don't know why they don't donate theirs to Age Concern, its what I would do.

    You would think so wouldn't you, tell that to the armies of OAPs sitting on thousands of pounds worth of savings who refuse to spend them and live on a pittance. (I'm in no way suggesting this is either right or wrong )

    Maybe if this worn out government made the energy companies actually compete against each other we wouldn`t need any WFP at all.

    At the moment we have oil tankers anchored off-shore refusing to off-load their cargo simply waiting to force the price up.

    All Brown cares about is tax,tax,tax.

    The more the consumer pays the more tax he gets to waste.

    Don't want to get involved in the 'why' more interested in the 'when'. Last year mine was in my bank account on the 19th November. This year nothing so far. And I've a fair size bill waiting to pay.
