86069 Mobile Text Rip-off

Options
I'm fuming as I type this and I wonder if anyone can help me.

I've just found out, purely by accident that a spam text message I recieve 2-3 times a week is costing me £1.50 per hit, and I've been receiving it since goodness know when. A very helpful chap at Orange gave me a number to dial to have this text messaging "service" removed from my phone which is 0845 1309911 - apparently the service provider for this particular message is a company called Stream Mobile??

Does anyone have any guidance as to how I can try to claim this money back and if this is even legal?

The message reads as follows:
Poly Club: don't forget to bookmark ur WAP alert so u can download urcontent direct to ur phone.

Nice use of grammar and no mention that they're robbing you blind!!!!!

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!! :money:

Complain to the company direct. These companies are making a fortune. If you never signed up to the service then use the following.

    Steam Group Plc
    3rd Floor
    25 St James Street
    London
    W1U 1DU
    Tel: 08712 120 250
    smssupport@streamgroup.co.uk

    Then register it with phonepayplus.

  • Thank you!

I have no recollection of subscribing to such a service, but that doesn't mean I didn't unwittingly without realising the costs. I will try doing what you have suggested and will let you know how I get on.

    @Vicky1975,

It sounds like you are yet another victim of the unsolicited reverse bill texts scam. Don't expect any help from Orange you will not get it. There are countless threads dealing with this problem, enter 'Unsolicited Reverse Bill Texts' in the above forum search and you can see that you are not alone.

As Deano27 has advised you must contact the company and get then to remove your details from their records and demand a refund.

    Good luck...

Also, text 'stop' to the number you are receiving the texts from to ensure that you do not get any more.
  • Thanks everyone, I can see I'm not alone. The e-mail contact address from the phonepayplus website smssupport@streamgroup.co.uk has unfortunatley bounced back but I haven't tried to call them yet and I will!

I've calmed down slightly from this morning, but I just think it's so flipping cheeky!!
