Except this was on Watchdog a while back and the Basa Sainsbury sells and the River Cobbler Tesco's sell were confirmed as having been tested and not being part of the contaminated fish.
It was specifically mentioned that those don't have high levels of poison and bacteria.
So I only buy it from those sources and haven't been sick yet - been eating it for over 2 years and have a dodgy stomach that would likely have noticedworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

I was going to say - Basa sells very well at the Sainsbury's I used to work in, and we had lots of regular customers for it. Not exactly consistent with making everyone throw up!0 -
I've had pangaseus on a number of occasions, without any ill effect. As an earlier poster mentions, it is becoming more widely available in fish and chip shops, more unscrupulous ones passing it off as Cod.
I have found that one of the reasons it is used is because of the situation with Cod. I find the fish quite oily and no where near as nice as real cod.
Then again real fish and chips are supposed to be made using Haddock not cod. Only southerners eat cod with chips. My farts hospitalize small children0 -
Ah.. cobblers.. river cobblers!
There was an article on one of the main news channels (BBC I think but could be wrong) about this fish. turns out that it's perfectly fine to use, and the food standards agency would put a stop to it if it wasn't. Still. can't believe everything you hear or read eh!There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -

I went to Scarborough, and was the only one of the family to pick cod for my fish when buying fish and chips (I'm a yorkshire lass, honest!). My fish came shaped like a long thin sausage! I wasn't impressed. Couldn't they have cut it to look like a fishy shape? lolThere's a storm coming, Mr Johnson.
