Ohhhh was hoping this was going to start soon. I am at the moment buying a few bits for christmas when i buy my normal monthly food shop (food stuff that can be stored) but wondering whether to save stamps too for the fresh stuff i need to get the week before Christmas.

Which supermarkets do you all go for? I was thinking Asda as it is more local to me. Also i think i read on here last year something when they gave you extra money for spending your savings stamps / card on a particular day in November too. Does anyone know how this works and if it is worth doing?

TIA

Hi 3_cheeky_princesses,

It's worth having a good read of the article linked to in the top post, which describes exactly that.

I worry about doing this because we got stamps one year and a number of things that we wanted were unavailable in the shop we had stamp for so we ending up spending money in other places and using the stamps for purchases that we could have lived without.

Hope I am posting this in the right place

The info on the Tesco savings club isn't correct.
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/sav...christmas-cash

If you have at least £100 in saved clubcard rewards and/or top-ups they send you an extra £5 voucher with your Nov statement. I think they differentiate the savings and £5 bonus from the deals vouchers so they aren't eligible for partner rewards.

Are the dates on the Asda one the right way round? It says the extra is awarded on the 17th so you should stick the money in by the 22nd. Surely you need the money in before the magic date.

When can you spend on the ASDA card? All year round?

For the Morrison's ones, it reads:
'but the bonus can only be spent in November or December in a single transaction so wait until then'

What exactly does this mean? If you can't spend the bonus, can you spend the rest of the stamps at anytime? Is it just the bonus stamps you need to spend in a single transaction or the whole card?

Please can you make the explanation of the schemes clearer - every year MSE promotes this and the scheme details (ie the main point of the article) are very breif in their detail, making it hard to fathom out which scheme is of any use.

I did the asda one last year to give my mum as a xmas present and no one (on the site or in my local Asda) could tell me when the money on the card had to be spent by, my funds or the bonus. Luckily she used it to buy a telly before the end of December but I'd lilke to know the answer for this year.

I have this years card and it states that you have to spend the total between the bonus date and 31 December to get the bonus. I guess if you don't you lose the bonus but keep the cash you have invested.

I'm interested in the Wilkinson saving stamps, but the link in the article does not work and I can't find anything on the Wilkinson website.
As I understand it if I'm going to spend £20+ in Wilkinson I can buy stamps first then spend them straight away to make the saving.
Have I got that right?
Also can someone tell me if I can buy the stamps with my credit card?

another good scheme is somerfield. You have to have saved £29 by April and another£18 by November and you get £3 bonus giving you £50 for saving £47. This equates to 6% intrest I think. Maths was never my strong point.

It is now too late for the Tesco Clucard Christmas saver bonus. I picked up a leaflet yesterday and it states:-

Points can be collected until 19th October 2009 and the last day for topping up is 16th October 2009.

My mum has been collecting money with tesco's so we will have a wee bit of choice this year. Its something my mum has done for years with various supermarkets and shes always on at me to do it- so this year i went for it, and i havent missed the money- just always adding a fiver when i go shopping

Now im debt free- i want to be fat free!!!

Default Beware Morrison saver cards with no bonus

I visited my nearest Morrisons store to buy the requisite £97 in stamps in order to qualify for the £3 bonus. None of the saver cards on dislay in the store made any reference to the bonus. Thinking I had left it too late I enquired at the checkout and was given the correct card from a pile hidden behind the till. Just beware that the card you get is marked on the front "up to £3 free in saver stamps".

Asda savings cards

Which of the many Asda savings cards is the correct one to qualify for the savings bonus. I used the scheme last year and if I can remember correctly it was a reddish card with decoration.

Do the other cards attract a bonus.

Has anyone confirmed the Asda bonus date. I was led to believe that it was a week earlier than the one stated in the article on the main site.

Merry Christmas shoppers

Scroll down on this page to see a picture of the Xmas savings card:

See the FAQ tab to read:

What is the bonus date for a Christmas Savings Card?
For 2009 the bonus date is Monday 23rd November.

Default Asda be a catch?

I just bought a Christmas savings card from Asda. But I was surprised to read in the t&c that the total value must be redeemed before 31 Dec for the bonus to be applied. This doesn't make sense and there's nothing about this in the t&c on the website. Can anybody clarify?
