Making Cards - Ideas for a card craft beginner (Part 3)
Comments
-
I found THESE the other day and posted a link to a tutorial for them on my blog. I think they are LOVELY!
The possibilities are endless!!! (sorry I know it isn't an actual card - but is it OK to post on here?)
Ooh I am so going to make one of these for my boyfriend for Christmas and fill it with little gifts! Especially as I have to beat the exploding box I gave him for his birthday lol
Has anyone seen or recently brought any decent quality Christmas paper (possibly a heavier weight) that doesn't crack? I'm thinking maybe in maybe a blue/white colourscheme to make it more male with snowflakes or something...
Thanks x0 -
Sorry I didn't post earlier - got held up at work.
Congratulations Sales Admin on winning the stitching challenge.
I've volunteered to run the next challenge thanks to Hamish222 who has been making Christmas cards to send to our forces overseas so they can send them back home to relatives and friends. I don't suppose there's a Clintons in Afghanistan!!
I thought we could all make a Christmas Card and instead of using it for yourself you could post it on here or your blogs then send it to me and I will forward them in bulk to the lady organising the send out to the forces.
I will offer a prize in the usual 'random pick' way. Obviously the challenge is for one Christmas card but if you make & send more than one I will put your name in the hat more than once!
Here is part of the reply the lady sent me about any restrictions that might apply because they are being shipped overseas.
"No real limitations re size as long as they stay within 'normal card size'. Embellishments are good but must not be too bulky, as with decoupage.
Verses are good it is entirely a matter for the individual.
Yes other cards will also be very welcome, I usually send loads for Valentines Day, Mothers and Fathers Day and all year round I try to send a variety of birthday, anniversay and get well cards".
So, in brief, the challenge is:
Make and donate a Christmas Card.
Any questions please ask.0 -
Marg, Thats a lovely idea, I will try and get one off to you before I goIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0

Mumhug - That's a lovely card, such a sad reason to need to craft but MIL is sure to appreciate it more than an 'off the shelf' card. Hope you know we are all here for you at this difficult time. xx0

Saveapenny - Thank you! Don't worry if you don't have time in amongst your packing it will be running for 2 weeks and then I'll wait a few days before I send them all off. If you don't get back on here again before you go. Have a wonderful time!0

Have you seen these??
Here
all you do is add photos! I think they are fab! ... anyone know if there is anywhere else which doesn't have extortionate postage prices?? I reckon one of these would be fantastic for a pressy!!
Can anyone help?
And on that note I really am going to bed.
I saw these tonight and thought the same as you would make a really lovely present !
Let's hope someone finds them somewhere at a really bargainous price and we can all buy them!0 -
I wondered if anyone had any recommendations for xmas papers and stamps. I found it really hard doing the ccc xmas card challenge because I hardly have anything xmasy and I really should make a load of xmas cards.
Salesadmin - congratulations on winning the challenge.
Mumhug - beautiful card, everything matches perfectly, sorry about your f-i-l, I'm sure your m-i-l will really appreciate her card.
Jamtart - I have never ordered from them, but I ordered from an American craft store once, spent about 35 quid and wasn't charged any custom charges, I don't know if its just luck - but I've ordered so much stuff from abroad and I've never been charged.
Marg - great idea for a challenge.0 -

Sounds like a really great challenge so I think I will have to enter this time as it is for such a good cause! Thanks Marg xxx0 -
I haven't bought from twopeasinabucket but have bought from the us before i got some rubber stamps delivered from us ebay they cost me about 75 quid and i got stung by customs it wasn't much about 3 or 4 quid but what really stung was the collection fee by royal mail .That was about 10 or 12 quid it was about 3 years ago though.
I just got a card through the door from royal mail which said they had collected a parcel and paid the customs fee and if i called and paid the fee they would deliver it to me the next day.Cross Stitch Challenge Member Number 20
New challenge finish birth sampler by end of the month
No matter how much life knocks you down, it's your ability to get back up, brush yourself off and face your next set of challenges that makes you stronger0 -
Craftygranny - I wonder if it depends on your location whether you get caught by customs charges?????????0
