Patrick - would love to respond, but your mailbox is full ......
In the meantime can say:
Have been on Unlimited Evening and Weekend free calls since 18 Nov 08, with paperless billing, paying by monthly diect debit.
Basically, we only need the line for internet connection and are not interested in ever using the 1571 service.
Now need to know whether BT will levy a 98p per month charge if we don't make any calls they consider chargeable during the quarterly billing period
Many thanks0 -
Hi
My apologies Heinz is correct and I meant to say it is 2 chargeable OR inclusive calls a month depending on which call package you are on.
Thanks
Patrick

Hi Toepazz,
Sorry about that I have cleared some space in my in box and you should be able to send me a PM. Once I have received this I will be able to check your account and confirm, but as long as you use your line to make out going calls you should not be charged. As long as it is at least 2 chargeable or inclusive calls a month.
Thanks
Patrick

Hi All,
I'm really sorry that there has been some conflicting information given about whether chargecard calls count towards the minimum call commitment. I would like to clarify that chargecard calls do not count towards the minimum call commitment
At least two calls per month on monthly billing or six calls per quarter must be made. Excludes calls to 0800 number ranges, 1471 and 1571. Chargecard calls are excluded. 1471 Call Return (press 3) is included. The calls are either chargeable or those that would be made as part of an inclusive calls package. Customers who make all their calls via BB Talk are not eligible for free Caller Display on their landline number.
Sorry for any confusion caused.

:T Many thanks for this answer received by PM:
Hi toepazz,
I can confirm there is a charge of 95p each month for the BT Answer 1571 service if you do not make 2 chargeable calls with BT each month. I have checked your account and I can see that you do not have the BT Answer 1571 service on your line so this charge will not apply to you.
I hope this has helped.

Is there any alternative to BT apart from Virgin? Are the other companies imposing the same increase? I am currently with AOL and I am using BT only for the broadband...will switching to O2 broandband or TalkTalk makes any difference? Sorry for such random Qs, I am really confused with all these telephone services....0

I have just checked my BT land line paid by direct debit. For November and December it has gone up from £11.00 per month to £19.50. All my calls and broadband are through Tiscali.
Could somebody explain why the increase to nearly double?
BT Line Rental is £11.25 a month with Direct Debit and paper-free billing.
Have you checked your bill online to see what the extra money is for.
Make sure your on whole bill direct debit where you only pay whats actually due.0
