I opened a tupperware box in my mums and there was a screwed up ball of newspaper in the corner
I asked her "why" and she said
cos I used it for garlic sausage and it stank to high heaven so if you screw a bit of newspaper up leave it over night the smell goes
and it had!!

the newspaper is porous and it soaks up the smells - the old ones are always the best0

Wonder if it will work in plastic bottles too?
My boys use sports bottles at swimming lessons and even after being filled with water they smell terrible!
I'll give it a whiz and report back!

Help!
I made the mistake of lending my tupperware jar to a friend and after a few months hard chasing, finally got it back.
 Only to find that she'd used it to store washing powder. I've washed, and washed. Soaked it with malt vinegar and hot water, washing up liquid etc. The smell's still there after two weeks.
It's my favourite tupperware because I use it to take soup to work and can pop it straight in the microwave. Have not been able to find a solution or another tupperware jar in the shops.
Help - will it kill me or should I give up the ghost?"This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0 -
Id recommend sprinkling the inside of the tub with bicarb and leaving for a few days. That should absorb the smell

I have been told by a friend (to get bubble bath taste out of bottle though, not washing powder) to fill it with orange juice, leave it to go mouldy and then wash and should be ok.
However..... this is only hearsay and I have no idea how long it took to go mouldy, but it might be worth a try if nothing else works.;)0 -
Try the bicarb thing, and leave it outside overnight with the lid off0

lemon slices and hot water and place in the microwave might help0

Am mixing it all up a little.
Currently have a mix of bicarb, lemon juice & water in the microwave as we speak.
Will try an over night soak if that fails"This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0 -
On a similar theme, my DH has been taking sardines etc to work and he puts them directly into my plastic klip and save boxes, they are now picking up the fishy smell which refuses to wash out, any ideas?Pucker up and kiss it Whoville! - The Grinch:kiss:0

The same - bicarb or lemon should do it.0
