Help! Bogged down. Landline, BB, TV & mobile all up for renewal

Options
Sky have messed me about and so have orange and I have been ill for the past year and due to the topsy turvy health and no one to assist me, I have let things drift.

I pay £46 on panther for orange I also pay the insurance which I am cancelling after reading on here - also they've given me 3 faulty handsets in a year and the latest 1 isn't working and they're not following it up. My contract has less than a month to go. I don;t use all the minute or all the texts and although I should get free calls to other landlines round the clock I can't get the service to consistently work and pay BT for my calls. I do get free broadband. Al in all it's £55-ish a month maybe more just to orange I think.

My bills with BT are between £35-£40 per month.

I am paying Sky £16.50 a month they have messed me round with a faulty bos and I want to give them a months notice. I have bought a freeview TV but need to get my aeriel repaired to get all the channels (LG the TV manufacturer went through diagnositc with me) it is then my intention to get a dvd recorder with hard drive.

I was considering the i-phone deal mentioned on here last month but have family matters I am trying to assist my elderly mother with and it was too much to take on. I don't even know what mobile broadband is?

I haven't got a clue where to start to just keep my outgoings to a minimum (hence the standard freeview and recorder seems sensible) but I also need broadband as an absolute MUST. I could drop down to a pay as you go - the usage I have presently is low, but I may start college in Sept in which case I'll use the mobile more - but if I am unwell I won't. I do have a backup half decent handset from my previous upgrade.

Has anyone any money saving advice? I am not sure whether to go for BT free calls upto 1 hour all the time and reduced to mobiles as well as free 0845 no's. Have no TV monthly outgoings and and to get a new mobile with broadband on it (will this allow my laptop to use it or is it capped)? or just drop down to pay as you go and get broadband seperate or through BT.

I am in an area where I can get virgin, but I don't know what to do for the best as I have got ADHD and I am getting too confused to take anything in, as I am dealing with my Mums paperwork urgently, and by the time I get to my own I am frazzled.

Its going to cost you around £100 - £150 to upgrade your terrestrial aerial.
A decent Freeview PVR like a Humax will also cost you over £100.
Your best bet would be to stick with Sky, upgrade to Sky+ if you haven't already done so and get your broadband from them.
If your box is faulty get them out to change it, if you are incontract its free, if not its £65.
Assuming you are in an LLU area it will cost you £5/£10/£15 amonth depending on the package. If you take Sky talk you will get a £5 rebate on that.

If it were me I'd get the cheapest mobile going on PAYG.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Thanks I am already on Sky+ hence picking a DVD recorder with HD. After some research I have already earmarked a dvd recorder with HD that will pay for itself within a year taking into account what I will pay Sky for the new box (they owe me and failed to deliver) as well as their price rise next month.

In principle I just don't want to be with them any more as they are incompetant and I would rather invest long term in the aeriel - I have researched a good reliable couple of companies via 'Which' Local.

I checked out the talk pland and BB with Sky when I rang up to give them notice - and if I want unlimited calss and downloads it's not that cheap - and they just leave me cold.

If it comes down to it I will switch to P&G, get the HD recorder, up my BT tariff to cover daytime 0845 and lower calls tomobiles and sort the broadband out seperately. The only thing stopping me doing this is that if I am well enough to study I may use the mobilemore as well as not knowing if there's a better combo deal for broadband.

Instead of paying BT at least £4.85 a month for the 24/7 inclusive calls bundle you could use www.18185.co.uk where 01/02/03 calls cost just 5p a call, and mobile calls and the connection charge are cheaper then BT,s 7p a minute and 8p connection.

www.saynot0870.com is a good source of geographical alternatives to 0845 numbers.
