Low energy GU10 light bulbs?

I know this has been done to death, but I'm still confused.

I've found these in Screwfix

http://www.screwfix.com/prods/52469/Lighting-Lamps/Lamps/240V-Halogen-Lamps/Halolite-GU10-Low-Energy-11w-Specialist-Lamp

Will they stick out of recessed light fittings? (they look like they might).

I'm all out of regular bulbs & one is blown & I need to buy some & I want to go green:D

These will stick out. You could consider LEDs

    Help me:confused:

I could only see those in Screwfix, do I need to look elsewhere?

I want bright ones, are LEDs bright?

These fit fine in there Halolite spots, I use them in all my kitchen and bathroom installs.Take about 1 min to heat up and the 6400k gives a crisp white light, unlike the yellow of the GU10 halogens

You should have no issues in fitting these into any gu10 spots as its the retaining ring that holds the bulb on place

I had these fitted all round, the light is ok, but they blow just as often as the normal ones, as normal ones are 50p each and these are 8.50, I gave up.

LEDs are great if you've got loads of lights - there isn't much light from them, I've used 2 leds with 3 50w downlights in the kitchen and it's nice.
    Hope this helps.

They look much longer than "normal" G10s

I fitted oak doors when I should have used cream, so my kitchen is darkish anyway.

Are all these low energy & LED bulbs dark &/or too-expensive?

I bought some gu10 leds from b & q, put them in (this was external mind you) and they were way too dark. Took them straight back and got my money back. They were only about 1 watt so should have guessed.

My external lights are down at the moment, but when they are back in situ i will be looking for places i can find brighter ones but be able to return if they are still too dim.

I have seen some claims of some superbright leds but they have been online and quite expensive. (I would have no hesitation in buying them if i knew they were bright enough, but couldn't afford the risk.)

I have the megaman gu10 in my daughters boxed room 4 of them, we got them 18 months ago, no issues at all with them other than slight blue tinge

The light is slightly blue but you get used to it and the bulbs are only slightly taller than the normal gu10, we also have megaman candle bulbs both screw and bayonet, they do take about 30 secs to warm up but They are about same size as candles bulbs unlike the cheap ones that are around 30+% more in size

Megamans tend to be on of the best and usually at the for front in terms of cutting edge

But do they stick out of the fitting?

Mine have funny little clips/springs that hold the bulb in place.
