Anyone any experience of jet2.com

We're thinking of flying to Tenerife with Jet2.com in August - what are they like to deal with?

Also, does anyone know how online check-in works at Tenerife South airport. I know we can check in for our return flight before we go but have they got the facilities for this at Tenerife airport?

There is no facility for this at TFS.

You MUST check in online for your return flight before you go.

Otherwise they will charge you £16 (this happened to someone I know a couple of weeks ago, they only checed in for the outbound flight then had to pay for airport check in on the way home).

I find Jet2 to be very good. Flown with them a few times, good prices, not as cheap as Ryanair, but for an extra few quid you get a far superior service. All flights I have taken have been on time and comfortable.

Agree -have only had good experiences with Jet2. Definitely a league above Easyjet, and several leagues above Ryanair.

Flown with Jet2 several times to Prague and Amsterdam a few times with my friend, Rome last year (won a flight) and will be going to Paris in September (won another flight) both with the hubby. Never had any problems with them whatsoever. Staff are polite, seat space is good, it tends to be used midweek by many businessmen and the like, especially to places like Amsterdam.... also good for a one day shopping trip to Amsterdam!!!

BeeUK - I do intend to check in for the return journey before we go but if they have no online check-in facility at Tenerife airport, what do we do with our hold luggage? Is there a bag drop area? Or do we just queue up with everyone else?

You should have a good flight. This service will be on a 757 aircraft which is a nice plane- just dont sit by the toilets. Can purchase extra leg room and this is a reasonable price. The planes are older not as new as easyjet or ryan air but as long as they are the cheapest fare it doesnt really matter.
    have a nice time!

  • I have used Jet2 many times and think it's the best budget airline. I would not travel with Ryanair ever again. Just beware, if checking in online, that you seem to get the worst seats at the back of the plane, unless you opt to pay to reserve your seats Otherwise I think they do a really good job.

I have flown with them to Geneva and also to Venice and I agree that it was a much better experience than Ryanair, although how much of this was because it was flying from Leeds/Bradford instead of Stansted I don't know.

However when I flew to Venice, I paid to reserve seats as I was the sole adult with 4 teenagers ages 12 to 16, one of whom is 6ft 4. This was fine going out,but on the way back, they had no record of it at all, and the plane had filled up by the time we'd boarded, meaning we had to split into three groups, although after much arguing, they did manage to find a seat with extra legroom for Tom.

Well - I would have said they were fine until now!!!
I have flown with them many times and am/was due to fly to Paris with them tomorrow with a friend. She has lost her passport and is still looking as we speak so I asked another friend to come instead. I rang to do a name change on the booking and was told it would be £260......!! This is the booking fee PLUS the difference in what we paid and what the flight costs now. We have decided not to bother now unless she finds her passport as the original flights were £60 each return.
We had booked a table at the Jules Verne restaurant at the Eiffel Tower for lunch and luckily they will let us cancel without a charge (even though it says there is a charge on the booking) as there is a waiting list for tables there.
I appreciate that there is small print on these things but this seems just acomplete rip off to me. I bought these tickets in good faith, and that amount just to change the name seems outrageous to me.
    Other buyers beware!
NO EXCUSES - THIS YEAR IT'S PERSONAL..........
  • Flew with them recently from Edinburgh to Prague, as they are now the only airline with a direct flight from any Scottish airport. Flights were on time both directions, nice leather seats.

Only had 2 issues with them, firstly, as mentioned earlier, if checking in online you are given seats in the very back row in front of the toilets. Furthermore, when I checked in for my dad and I (on the same booking reference), they gave us seats separately in an attempt to get us to pay for prebooked seats, which I found a bit of a low blow. Speaking to other people on the flight revealed that this seems a standard trick.

Secondly, on the PRG-EDI flight, the back of one of the seats in front of me was missing, and they had allocated that seat to a customer! Thankfully the plane was not full, so they allocated them another seat, but it could have been messy had the plane been full!

fly with them every month to visit the girlfriend in spain!:-) and she comes over here with them too. on the rare occasion that flights arent available that day, ryanair/easyjet/thomson/thomascook/bmi/monarch, and in my opinion its much better than most of the other operators, never had many delays and the staff were quite friendly. bit annoying when they drastically reduce the price of thier food on board towards the latter stages of the flight!! shows how much it really costs to them!!
