Well if it makes you feel any better my OH has developed a serious case of PMT <which considering he is a he is quite an achievement> ... I feel like I am treading on egg shells! My mum said maybe it is because he is still in shock. I have no idea ... he won't even talk. He just says nothing is wrong<!!!>

sounds like typical I've just realised my partner is having a baby and therefore I have to be a proper grown up syndrome - the poor things can't handle it!
He'll cheer up in a month or so until the birth is imminent and then he'll be all panicky  anyone would think they have to carry the baby, be sick, in pain etc:rotfl:

My OH always moans if I tell him he's being silly over games but thakfully he's usually playing the computer - there was a time when he would ask me why I sided with the computer?!!! :rotfl:

As for starting Mat Leave - I'm still undecided. Knowing that I was 2 weeks late and the probability that I will go to 41+3 (is that right WikiBEEdia?!!) as a first timer I would like to finish at around 39 weeks but I think this might be wishful thinking. I want as much time off afterwards as I can.

Need to do my letter at 25 weeks so about 5 weeks to make my mind up - I guess I can always change it as long as I give notice.

    God, nearly halfway there!!

My DH is playing his new car game (so I will be driving to collect the kids as it takes him ages to get out of game mode). A few strops so far because they 'sat in his slipstream and then overtook him at the finish line and it's all b******s!'. Pretty mild for him!

So I had an hours kip on the sofa, was great! Woke up, went for a pee and finally got rid of hundreds of those tonsil stones, so now my throat feels great too.

Now, DH has to give a letter to his employer about paternity leave doesn't he? I need to look up and see when he can take if (if it's like maternity leave, it starts automatically when the baby is born).

Maternity Leave - Try to leave it as late as possible. Last time DS was due on 6 Dec. I finished work on 31 Nov. He was 4 days late, and i was bored as by the time he came and felt i had wasted 10 days of maternity leave, as it was i was back at work 10 weeks after he was born.

This time i have an appointment with consultant at 28 weeks to discuss VBAC or possible C-section, as i only work for a small company and they haven't a clue, may leave letter until have seen consultant. If I am having elective section, at least i will know when, and will hopefully work as close as possible. That said maybe a lot harder to do this with a 5 year old to contend with as well:rolleyes:

    Got the weeks mixed up!!

Someone mentioned that there wasn't much info about swine flu in pregnant women, I've just found this on NHS direct which says there is a treatment available. During second and third trimester we are more at risk of picking up any flu so remember

Use a hanky and wash your hands!!

it doesn't start automatically AFAIK I think the only rule about it is that the 2 weeks must be taken together you can have a week then work a week then have the other week :D info will be on here I'm sure: Expecting or bringing up children : Directgov

    FYI
    How and when to claim

To claim Statutory Paternity Pay you must tell your employer when you intend to take leave by the 15th week before your baby is due, or within seven days of your wife, partner or civil partner being told by the adoption agency that they've been matched with a child.
If you change your mind you must give 28 days' notice.
Your employer might ask you for self-certificate form SC3 becoming a parent that confirms you're entitled to the pay.

What else you need to know

You can choose when to start getting your Statutory Paternity Pay. Leave can start on any day of the week:
    • on or following the child's birth, but must be completed within eight weeks of the actual date of birth (or eight weeks after the expected date of birth if the baby is born early)
    • from the date of the child's placement, but must be completed within eight weeks of the date of placement

You can take either one week or two consecutive weeks, but not odd days.
If you have more than one job, you may be able to get Statutory Paternity Pay from each employer.
Your employer can't pay you Statutory Paternity Pay for any week you're at work.

It can start automatically. The form 'Dad' has to give to his employer has the babies EDD on it.

EDIT, you beat me to it lol
