Cheque cashed ... Item not sent.

My daughter paid for an item before Xmas and the cheque was cashed before Xmas, but she has not received the item.
She has contacted Ebay and she notes that the Seller is now "No longer registered with Ebay".

We are aware of the "eBay Standard Purchase Protection Programme", but is this an easy process to follow? Ebay charge the claimant £15 for this 'service', can this be reclaimed from the Seller? Is there a better/easier way to pursue the Seller? Last time I used the Small Claims Court it cost me about £45 BUT I did get this back from the company I was pursuing.

eBay must be hoping that all Sellers default on a transaction to earn £15 a time!!!

  • Unfortunately you are right about eBay charging £15. They will deduct this amount from whatever you get back, at least with PayPal it is free. Have you tried contacting the seller and see what they have to say? If they don't reply you could always try the Small Claims Court as you mentioned. It is £30 now and you can fill in a form online, I'm not sure of the site but others on here will know it. Good luck.

You shouldn't be putting anyones personal details on here.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.

How much did your daughter pay for the item? And did she contact the seller before he became NARU?

And I think it would be better if you edited your post to remove the sellers name and address and just give his ebay id. Thanks

  • Rightly so, I had my fingers rapped for posting the 'offenders' personal details, but ............................................

UPDATE ........ My daughter contacted the 'offenders' local police station .... they are very interested because the 'offenders' son has a very 'large' file for stealing car radios/stereos, and because of the details my daughter gave to them, are interested in both the son & father now for Internet Fraud :j :j :j

.... ohhh!!! and she's reported Ebay to Watchdog for dismissing her claim, because they took the 'offenders' word that they had sent it, without the 'offender' providing any proof of posting!!!!!;) ;)

  • UPDATE ......

Daughter visited by local Police for a statement about all this. Within 1/2 hour she had a phone call from the Sleaford Police thanking her for her statement (Obviously the Local Police faxed all documents through to them), and that they are now ready to proceed with the arrest of the Ebay Seller on grounds of Internet Fraud:j :j :j .

The Sleaford Police Officer promised her he'd take a photo on his mobile phone when the guy is arrested, as my daughter said she'd love to see his face when they knocked on his door!!!!;) ;)

Are you going to get your money back though, or do you have to persue the seller for that independently?

    Soo

    That's a pretty good result then :)
