Hey All,

This Thread is now closed please follow: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1607277 for further bug issues.

Over the last few days MSE Ian and some of the team have been glued to their screen working to upgrade the forum software. We are opening up the forums now to test for bugs and any issues.

The software has been tested in house and all appears to run well but we can only run certain tests and not test under load.

If we find that the forums are now unstable and we will not be able to regain the stability the forums will close again and we will revert back to the previous version. Thus in this case any posts which are made between now and midnight may be lost if we roll back.

Please post below any bugs you encounter giving us as much information about your system as possible - particularly your browser and operating system.

Please see updated post here.
Thanks

MSE Neil

Update from Martin 18.18pm Sunday.

I've read some of the threads below and I'd like to thank all the posters who've given us a great list for bug fixing, it will of course take a day or two to get therough them all. I have noticed a few notes from a minority of annoyance or anger, which I do find a little surprising, so I thought I would explain a little.

This is a MAJOR task on a forum of unprecedented size

First of all great job to Ian & Neil. Thank you. It's important everyone understand this is a major upgrade on one of the biggest forum of its type in the world.

Just the back up, conversion and restore takes many hours of the down time. Remember this forum is the seventh biggest social networking site in the UK - only facebook. myspace, bebo, bbc, friendsreunited (and another I've forgotten) are bigger. So anything like this is a mjaor task.

It was done to provide more speed, reliability and customisation options.

The main aim of this was to move to a more recent, faster, more reliable version of vbulletin - which in the long run will enable us to have much more functions in here - and do many of the changes our users have requested.

Very little down time was deliberate

The guys have worked over the weekend to get this up and running with minimum down time. Of course we could've just closed it for five days and got everything perfect - but we've doen the best we can to restore the forum as soon as possible then tweak it live - as we know how important it is to many people. THe key was to have the info and ability to post working.

The fact the thing is up and running is great. Yet many of the 'custom' options and hacks we've added in the past may be squiff-whiff and so when you tell us the team will be dedicated to getting the whole thing running smoothly in the next day or so.

Please keep reporting and have a little patience.

Martin

NOTE! We know there are many problems with the 'Thanks' button - which is one of the special hacks we use. That will be looked at on Monday :)

Seems much quicker, but could be because there's not so many people on at the moment.

One minor thing, this quick reply box is rather tiny width wise.

Sami_Bee, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
    1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
    2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Yep. Tiny quick reply box, and double (and different numbers) display of thanks counts on left-hand post pane here as well.

I can't use the search facility on the forums. It comes up with this message:-
