Have been let down with Accommodation - Do I have a right to Compensation

I have to bow down to the consensus of opinion which is I was too forthright and should been more understanding initially and perhaps escalated my annoyance. I don't agree with the consensus but I will heed the advice!
I will leave you with this thought though. He only contacted me because I contacted him about mislaid paperwork. What would have happened if I had not initiated contact. Could he have left it tactically late to come clean so that my options were so limited with alternative accommodation - either availability/price that in effect he had me over a barrell between his one room solution or sun beds on the beach - just a thought for you doves to think about:D
Back to the original question - On the basis that I followed your advice retrospectively do I have any legal recourse?0 -
I wouldn't call it pretty pleases, rather politely responding to his explanation of the problem and asking for help in a difficult situation. Then if he was disinterested/couldn't care less/offhand/rude by all means give as good as you get. But was it this guy who made the mistake? From your first post he has written
That sounds to me like this wasn't the guy who you booked with originally, he didn't assign the apartment to you, more like he is someone who has recently taken on the apartment and taken over all bookings previously made by someone else. Therefore he didn't actually make a mistake but was pointing our the previous agent's mistake to you so your annoyance seems to be directed towards the wrong person.
My dealings were with Alan. Alan was blaming some German but this German did not exist in my world - my contract was with Alan. My limited knowledge of law (BTEC!) is that if this German was Alans agent then its Alans fault if his agent was doing his job badly - its not my fault and my beef is with Alan.0 -
if its Alan Dow, he has lots of different sites offering apartments0

A408 apartment is showing as a 1 bedroom0 -
Where is Alan based?
English law does not apply in Spain, so if he is there you can forget about compensation.0 -
This is the email he sent me when I was booking the accommodation. His answers are in BOLD
Thanks for the info - I will be in touch shortly. I have checked your web site to get more info on the apartment - it does not list a 2 bedroomed apartment - is it just not up to date? THERE ARE 14 NOS. APARTMENTS BEING ADDED IN OCTOBER COMPRISING STUDIOS, 1 BEDS AND 2 BEDS. IT WOULD BE A702 ON 7TH FLOOR TOP. Do you have any photographs of the apartment? Are the bedrooms twin bedded or double beds? ALL TWIN BEDS Finally, does it have a safe? ALL APARTMENTS HAVE SAFE BOXES AND LIST ON MY WEBSITE
Then I had this
"I have taken over the 14 x new apartment now and have found that the apartment you were assigned is not a 2 bedroom but a 1 bedroom. The floor are is big as I was told the % ratio and it was deemed a 2 bed, but in fact a 1 bed. The living room will have a sofa bed and "Z" mattress sofa bed. IS this OK for the children? (I can't get another 2 bed). The rate for the 1 bed is £350 / week x 2 wk = £700, so if this is acceptable then the balance due is £600 and not £700.
If this is not acceptable then I will refund your deposit paid. If acceptable then you will receive apartment keys, etc later this month and balance will be due. The apartment No. is A408 on fourth floor and great views to Puerto Colon, etc. Please let me know soonest so we can move forward.
I apologise for this change but outwith my control and now several other bookings for this expected 2 bed, now 1 bed are affected also."
I was not happy with A408. Whilst you are checking his website pl note that the appartment I was offered by Alan A702 is still described as a 2 bed.
What is your interest in this in terms of Alan?0 -
