I agree with this, after all we all are on MSE to save money and to help others to do the same. I think talk about going underground is daft, and defeats the whole object, of sharing with all. I dont post very often because I dont shop as often as some lucky prople, dont chat much as I feel most people would find it boring. Only post when I have something to say, or to offer to you lovely peeps. I do however read as much as I have time for and enjoy how nice everyone is on here. So I think we should continue on here the way we were doing, and I am one of the people who knows for a fact Mr. B's staffs read this, as I once got my post quoted back to me by someone very high up in Boots. We cant be a sharing community and keep Mr B out, so we just have to accept that.

I have skimmed through the huge amount of pages since last night ...........not sure what the posting in magic writing was all about...............surely if we can do something (what ?) to read it then the 'boots spies' can too?

Boots obviously monitor their sales and would be able to see what items are being combined , how many vouchers are used etc. That is why they have programmable tills! If they were seriously keen to make sure we all stuck to the rules then they would programme the tills correctly. If it gets out of hand then the glitch is busted pretty quickly.Whether that is because they read a relatively obscure web forum , or just analyse their sales return I don't know!
If people want to go underground then by all means do - but I really think Boots will still fix glitches(if it suits them..................just do the maths on how much more you spend in Boots than you used too) and no one knows who is the spy..................it could be one of the regulars who will sign up to the underground site !
I think one answer is to post if you find something good that is not posted already.....................then we all keep quiet and take advantage of the glitch until someone posts about it being busted. If we don't gloat and post over and over , perhaps we won't be so obvious on the Boots radar!

Sorry thats what I was quoting, but it didnt work!

Did someone in an earlier post mention that Bourjois were doing a GWP on a £10 spend or did I dream it:p ?? Have re-read the first 15 pages and can't find it - I was at work when I first read it and had to quickly close down as I was supposed to be doing the VAT return:rotfl:

Can't get a star pallett anywhere but Teesside Park get deliveries every night and they didn't get any in today so the lady said they should be due some - unfortunately am at work tomorrow and can't get out till saturday.

Has anyone used the peachy highlighter - is it o.k for fair skin?

No, you didn't dream it;) I mentioned the Bourjois GWP on the last thread. I haven't seen it in real life yet (keep forgetting to look for it:rolleyes: ) it's a disco ball lipgloss. There's a pic of it in the new boots mag:)

I am still on page 40, so I am way behind in this discussion. We all have opinions on this and mine is that I feel that this thread should continue as it always has for years. Those of us who have been around for a long time know that Boots has always been aware of this site and IMO accept that:-
we find glitches and they 'fix' them.

The speed in which they are fixed is relevant to the amount of information given here.

The more information that is posted the quicker they are fixed.

By information I mean (And I am wording this carefully) posting about stuff, that sounds like bragging. I don't want to quote examples but I am sure that people know what I mean.

I do not believe that what we call 'glitches' are all mistakes, many are marketing tactics. For example, when Boots gave a free Palmolive shower creme with every item. We all ended up with loads and I don't believe that Boots didn't know that most orders had 40, 50 or 60+ shower crèmes in every order.

Same with the Mitchum, it was no coincidence that when the vouchers first came out, Boots suddenly had Mecum displays everywhere we looked about 6 or 7 places around the store. They were never there before.. Think about it.

IMO the real problem is when people abuse the glitch, get greedy and then brag about it. I know a lot of people have returned items from a glitch for a refund. Have had double points etc etc. The point I am trying to make is don't post on here what you don't want Boots to know. I posted recently about this Think twice Post once.

    ,
I am not standing in judgement, what people do is down to their conscience, just trying to make a points on what I have seen happening in the past. But the more information which dams you as an individual will also dam this community as a whole.

I think Boots are happy to have the glitches until they run their course, but the greed element creeps in and spoils it for all.

I am not in favour of a mass exodus to facebook, not everyone wants the lack of anonymity. And also this site is monitored by Mods and board guides, and is subject to massive scrutiny which gives us privacy regards our ISP number etc.

lol I dont wanna be  was HG at school and it meant I could not be naughty :rotfl:

lol this made me laugh - I was a prefect at school but was stripped of title, responsibility and tie pin because I was too naughty and too principled and was always getting into trouble  then my best friend resigned in protest lol

I still say I was just misunderstood :p

Thank you:j am going to get the bourjois delice de poudre bronzing powder and will hold out till this comes with it. No wonder I couldn't find it, was trawling this thread - feel a bit befuddled now reading about old glitches, getting excited and then realising they don't work anymore!!!

Don't have a copy of the mag anymore - one of the girls put it in the dog's water bowl!
  • I can see the point you are making pegging out, but at the end of the day we were all lurkers at one stage. And being a lurker isn't a bad thing, many people chose not to join in for a variety of reasons none of which are our business really. I think we should be welcoming new posters, not questioning their motives, as its often their enthusiasm that keeps the thread going. Personally i think the whole situation is getting blown out of proportion, and i'm really hoping things will calm down and return to normal soon.

I agree with you too claire.

My post may have been a bit harsh.

I wasn't meaning to question motives, I have no problem with newbies at all. Yes we were all lurkers at one time but I just found it amazing that as soon as 'going underground' was mentioned they all started posting as they didn't want to get left behind.

I too hope life gets back to normal in Grabbitland!!! :)

Any ideas on shops to do with the following vouchers? For a friend of mine who is skint and needs to buy xmas pressies for OH. Can the £5 off no.7 cosmetics be used on men's No.7 stuff?

4 pinkies,250 points when you spend £30,100 points when you buy botanics facial skin care
2 150 points when you spend 20 quid
400 points when you buy boots expert teeth whitening programme
200 points when you buy 25 digi pics
    £5 off N0 7 cosmetics range
£2 off on botanics mens washbag
half price on the FCUK weekend bag
save 10% on time delay for men

I'm thinking 342 on men's No.7 toiletries, pay with pinkie and £5 off No. 7 cosmetics, get gwp, would that work? :D

not sure if the no7 cosmetics would work, but i used some of my pinkies to get oh some no7 toiletries all in separate transactions, and the nice sa still let me have the gwp, so you might be lucky and get one without spending too much.
this was at westwood cross hth

totally off topic cos I've forgotten what I was really going to say  cos ds asked me something! Does anyone know of any safe hair dye? I've had a really bad reaction to the one I always use and have read up on it and am too scared to use anything else once this rash clears up. I'm only in my 30's and don't want to have grey hair!

I can now only use Clairol Nice n Easy non permanent since I developed an allergic reaction to hair dye a few years ago. What started off as an itchy scalp got progressively worse and I ended up with badly blistered eyes and swollen lips (about 4 times the size of Angelina Jolie). I looked a proper fright and it lasted several days but I refused to give in to my premature grey hair and have been using Nice n Easy ever since with no reaction. It doesn't contain any ammonia or peroxide, the downside is it only lasts about 4 weeks. If you are going to use any hair dye I would urge you to PLEASE do a skin test first as these allergic reactions can be potentially very serious. HTH

I am a relative newbie and this is my first post which I've found quite daunting, I hope I've done the quote thingy right. I have to admit to searching for the Thanks button and not realising you had to be logged in to access it, so a belated THANK YOU to all you posters re the TS glitch and No 7/skincare vouchers in summer. I managed to send my eldest off to Uni with tons of hair and skin products that cost next to nothing. Still got boxes of the stuff for next term.

I really enjoy reading the posts on here, but like others, feel that I'm not able to contribute much as I can only go Bootsing at weekends when most of the glitches have already been fixed. I certainly don't abuse the glitches and get really flustered when using different vouchers. I am steeling myself to try the SS tills in Manchester at weekend to see if I can get a No 7 Illuminating mirror using pinkie, TS and £5 mailing voucher - bet they're OOS though!
  • Right...catching up now...

Hey NIMI  Always nice to see another Cambridge Bootser :D Yep, clearance in Cambridge Retail Park can be really good sometimes (think they've shifted all the water filter cartridges now :rotfl: ) Have hopefully just about managed to clean them out of one of the 17 eyeshadows in the old packaging ('Style Queen' - I use this as an all over base from lids to brow line and then shove everything else on on top :D) Agree about parking costs in Cambridge - been in the Grand Arcade car park once - spent ages looking for a blooming pay kiosk for the car park ticket that actually worked

Hey yummy-mummy-cat  Sounds like the bag I'm thinking of - but keeping my fingers crossed that I find it in the sale after Christmas...can't really justify £15 for it at the moment as lovely as it is :( The trinket set is from last year, little rectangular case with mirror inside - comes with three interchangeable thingys - solid perfume (well they called it solid perfume, I'd call it perfume slop but smells nice :D), lip gloss (very nice colour, deep metallic red/burgundy) and a gold highlighter (not unsimilar to a Benefit product...think it's Bathina Body So Fine or something? ) Original price was £15  but I got one on 342 after Christmas at £5, and then two more for £1.50 in clearance in the summer. Problem for me with the trinket is that you can only put one thingy in at a time - so you could take your lip gloss out partying with you but not the perfume and so on...Probably designed by the same person who thinks the current ladies' GWP "clam shell case" is stylish :rotfl:

So Mr BTVB went back to Boots after work...

    1x No7 Shine Control
    1x No7 Instant Radiance concealer
    1x GWP

Something like £13.25 to pay ;) and he didn't hang around for a skin care till spit :D GWP is now going on eBay...got to pay for my No7 habit somehow :D

P.S. Very wise words from pollsdolls as usual :grinheart
