Weekly Flylady Thread 6th October 2008

Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week when it comes to housework, or just the motivation to do the dreaded housework tasks you have to do, come and join us, hopefully make it a little easier. You never know, you might start to enjoy it!

Following requests to start things steadier for new members who did not realise the tasks list wasn’t a must do, just an encouragement. There will now be level 1, 2 and 3. Level 1 being very basic it has been requested that this is just one task per day, level 2 in the middle, up to 3 which is more advanced and time consuming. If you want to do level 2 you add the tasks on level 1 with the level 2 tasks, if you want to do level 3 you add the tasks on, easy peasy. Choose a level to aim for but be realistic, if you’ve got a busy day on or are just starting etc aim for level one, if you get higher then great, if not then not to worry its only suggestions. Every room comes back around next week. Trust me some days I'll only be doing level one myself.

THESE LISTS ARE ONLY SUGGESTIONS AND NOT A MUST DO LIST, ALWAYS WELCOME TO POST AND FOLLOW YOUR OWN.

Also adding a declutter mission each day. Another one where it’s up to you if you want to do it or if you need to. This follows requests from members who are looking to declutter. Fling boogies, hotspot clearing, cupboard sorts, drawer sorts etc will all be on this list. Any problems with this of any suggestions do please let me know.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are any areas which if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a binbag and whizz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis
HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!
5GC five minutes gardening.. make it lovely for your family and enjoy it!

boddy he's probably got a friend ;) maybe one of the human kind that feeds him too, they're not the most loyal of creatures.

((hugs for sleepy serena)) just one thing, next time they're partying until late I'd make sure my washer, radio and vacuum cleaner were on first thing the next morning!

MOZzy happy birthday to your DD

juliejim pleased to hear it's nothing more serious

Babies and Christmas, DS1s a 'just after' which he dislikes. People either forget etc are or give him presents for both. So I think that's worse, he now says 'not worry they forgot' as he knows they remember on his brothers birthday (which is 27th) or just before when they're thinking about his. His brothers tends to be remembered but still with them both being so close to Christmas and not a birthday mid year we usually get something extra at Easter.

DP treated us and took us out for dinner (but somehow I've ended up paying, he might give me it back...) we went to the pub and it was packed, people staying at the nearby travel lodge for the great north run, never thought about that. I don't know why we go as I only end up saying that we could have had a meal for 4 for how much one costs etc. Anyway was a break and DP had a good weekend money wise because of the run and the amount of taxis people needed, couldn't have done a dinner by the time we got back after taking the awning down then swimming for a few hours. I've been going through my last posts to see if I can find where I put some curtains, never know I might have posted :o can't find one anyway. Thomas ones and I want them for Matthew, his Mam was going to buy some but said why when there is a full bedset and curtains here, somewhere....just one curtain missing...winding me up now as I usually put them away in pairs.

Posted this here as Pigpen posted the new thread was up just as I finished catching up with you all. I'll be in this week, but of course studying to do aswell. DPs said this week we'll get the conservatory done, I'm waiting for him as he keeps promising and more than willing to wait.....because I am useless at flatpack furniture and that sideboard still needs building! His mother goes back tomorrow :D so that's one headache out of the way. I need to do pack ups and sort some uniforms out then bed time I think. Dentist tomorrow :( hate the place but it's agony at the mo especially with the cold, oh and shivering, now that's horrible!

I wonder how many kids will be tired tomorrow after watching Harry Potter this evening, what a stupid time to have a kids film finishing on a Sunday, 10pm.

A question for the super organised computer peeps, there used to be a programme you could get where you could put a inventory of every room in, shopping lists (and other family members could send items to the list) banking stuff, it was a full home organising thing and everyone could have their own room, send messages, have their own bank accounts pages/bills reminders, I could leave messages for my Dad, was a calendar etc ? Anyone know what it was? My Dad used to have it but can't remember the name of it, we used it a lot at home (so this is an old programme as it's been over 10 years) but is there anything similar. It was great as an organiser, fantastic for insurance as we'd all inventory our rooms and add anything bought etc.
One day I might be more organised...........

  • Woohoo saffstar is here to keep me on the straight and narrow.
The clear a drawer sounds a bit scarey to me. I will need that instruction to appear about another 19 times before I get straight.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times and I'll smash your face in. :D
