If you have just had a baby apply to falkirk council for "NewMums Vouchers". These allow you free access to swimming pool - Grangemouth, free Creche at Grangemouth and Mariner Centre. 16 free classes at the "New Mums Aerobics class- really recommend this but need to have had your 6 week ok from the doc or 12 weeks after a c-section. Also gives you a free induction at council run gym normally £7 and free sessions in the gym. You get a few vouchers for each activity - get lots for the creche. If you live locally but not in the falkirk area the New mums aerobic class is only 75p. Met up with girls from outside the falkirk area who attended and they said their local councils did nothing like this scheme and one girl said they wanted £4 for the class and £3.50 for the creche. I think this is a great scheme which isn't all that well publicised. Go to Falkirk council websit, type in new mums vouchers in the key word search. Print the form and send copy of babies birth certificate. Vouchers last for 9 months.

In Southampton children under 12 can swim for free at certain venues - the Quays, Bitterne Leisure Centre and Oaklands.
To join the under 12's club
1. Head to one of the three venues
2. Bring your under 12's club leaflet from your Southampton school
3. Fill in your form
4. Hand to reception and collect your card
5. Enjoy the benefits

Staffs county council provide a 'Leisure Key' system for their recreation centres. It is avalible for those on low income, eg housing benefit regardless of the increment. Proof is required and a one off fee of approx £2.50 per year to be included in the scheme. This will also cover included children, although the age restrictions vary from location to location.
Theres no point if you dont intent to use the facilities, however, my daughter has swimming lessons. These are HALF PRICE because I have the key.
Moreover, I have now managed to enrol her into other CENTRE RUN activities throughout the holidays, and she has HALF PRICE Trampolining lessons too.
I darent tell the other parents how much I save, because I fit the application critera.
Most local authorities do a similar scheme, although there may be slight differences, call them to find out thier own details.

Hertfordshire offers library subscribers one hour's free internet access using library PCs. In addition, major libraries in Herts offer free Wi-Fi access - there appears to be no time limit and you don't have to be a subscriber (you do have to see the poster in the library to get the logon and password).
Norwich Millenium Library offers one hour free internet access to subscribers using their PCs. If you register as a visitor you can take advantage of this - and after five minutes, you can log on again for another free hour (if there's a PC available).
Stevenage Council offers garden waste recycling bins (brown wheeled bins) without charge, but Norwich makes people pay for theirs!Smile. You'll feel better, and other people will wonder why . . .0 -

The Kent Free Trees Scheme offers up to 25 trees completely free of charge to individuals and organisations from West and Mid Kent, and Canterbury and Thanet.
All of our trees are species native to the county. All you need to do is pick up the trees, plant them yourself and care for them as they grow.

People across Kent will be celebrating in style when the Beijing Games hands the Olympic torch to London . August 24 th 2008 marks a major event in the run-up to the 2012 games and it will be a major event for Kent as the county is one of the most active in the country for its planned celebrations.
Besides the street parties, fireworks and special events planned, the Kent Campaign for the 2012 Games, lead by Kent County Council, has teamed up with the Kent Alliance of Leisure Trusts to open their swimming pools to the public for free for to mark the handover.
Free swimming will be on offer to all ages at pools in Canterbury , Sevenoaks, Gravesham, Thanet, Ashford, Dover and Tunbridge Wells. Visitors will be able to drop-in to their nearest pool to enjoy swimming and find out where they can take part, coach, and volunteer or get advice about other sports on offer in their area.

West Wilts District Council - and many others around - have a yard full of damaged commercial wheelie-bins, two of which they were pleased to deliver 'free' - although I gave a £5 cheque towards the delivery fuel cost.
They've made really great hi-capacity garden composters, and the Officer i/c has many more to give away, 'free to a good home'.0
