Still not enough to tempt me. Once bitten twice shy. May stir up some competition though. ;)

    Hmm.
first direct 5 year fixed rate offset mortgage at 5.39%.

This is getting close to being worth taking out a mortgage to put the money in savings accounts.
I'm tempted to take one out in preparation - shouldn't cost anything if you keep it all offset while waiting.
If only I'd gone through with it when I first considered it.

Seems to have nearly £800 of fees attached?

Yeah - would probably be only if you were going to swap anyway but a reason for taking the max available.

I don't think T'Pau would have been the only saver or potential saver to have had huge problems with ICICI. Whilst nobody could argue about their interest rate, I believe their level of customer service has beaten all records for badness. Of course, it may have improved but, as T'Pau implies, if you've been there before and had bad experiences, you're not likely to give it the benefit of the doubt.

I have had an ICICI HiSave a/c in the past, and I experienced nothing but problems in terms of competence and customer service, such that I lost all confidence in the operation of the account. So much so that I closed up and shipped out intact, breathing a sigh of relief.

Posts on many other threads indicate that many others have had similar experiences to mine. Having said that, apparently an equal number have had no problems and will not hear a word against ICICI. Your call.

Previous posts may have been under a different user name. ;)

Please give and example or two of the problems regarding competance and customer service
