Year old mobile phone bill!

Hiya!
I left 3 to join Orange in Feb 2006. I was paying my 3 bills by direct debit, and after closing the account with 3 I waited a couple of months then shut down the direct debit.
Yesterday (15 June 2007) I got a letter from 3 confirming that my account was now closed and I had an outstanding balance of £44.81. This was the first communication I had from 3 about it, 16mths after I shut the account!!
This is very odd, are they still entitled to bill me 16months after closing the account?? I intentionally left the DD open for them to take any final bill, before closing it. Seems a bit rediculous to me.

A few people have posted on here with the same thing happening to them, what 3 have said was there was a billing error sometime ago and you were undercharged on your bill and that is why they are asking for money now. Try and find the post that the other mse members have made on the subject, it wasnt that long ago, and they might have a solution for you.0

Thanks for the reply. I've had a thorough browse around the forums, and have come across one or two similar cases (but for much smaller amounts!). Time to burrow through my old statements and see if I can dig up an old bill matching the value, but
I think it went through the shredder a long time ago!!0 -
