 ING have only one type of account - instant access saving account with 4.75% interest.

This Xmas  or next? If you can afford to pay at least £25 p.m. for next Xmas open regular saving account with Halifax (£25-£250 p.m., 7%):

Regularly Beat the Best Savings Accounts article.

If you're not sure you can commit every month for grumbler's 7% regular saver suggestion, why not put it in an instant access mini-cash ISA instead?

Halifax 'ISA Direct' pays 5% and no tax.

The Norwich & Peteborough are offering 8% Click Here on thier "Gold Savings Account" reading the small print though leads me to believe you have to also have the "Gold Current Account" not bad in itself though.

Just a thought, is the ING direct account safe?

On small balances, the NatWest ISA pays 4.59% AER. The Halifax ISA Direct pays 5.00% AER (you'd get 10% more interest here!).

I hope so, because apart from my Halifax ISA, virtually all my money is there!
