With the popularity of this site, in particular the forum. I am thinking it's time that something major is considered.
I just saw the post bellow 500,000 people ! That's amazing
There are some very good web technologies that this site could use and a Wiki could be one of them.
Any thoughts ?
Also does Martin know what a wiki is?

Put simply, a wiki is a website that can be edited by anyone. All you have to do is click a link on a wiki page, usually one saying "Edit this page", type something and click save.

The best know example is wikipedia.
you notice at the top of pages you can select to 'edit this page' if you want to modify it.
You need to trust people. There's been many well publicized cases of people abusing the system0 -
Thanks sra ,when I was reading about it earler my first question was how do you stop abuse .

and they had to ban the US congress :rotfl:
You'd have to have a system in place where people had to register, and also be able to track version changes for someone abusing the system0 -
umm, well just use the same registration we use for the forums0

My opinion is that if this were to happen.......the site would go downhill rapidly and members would leave in droves.Herman - MP for all!0

What would prevent anyone from setting up a wiki about MSE? Are there rules? Would it need permission? and from whom?0
