Hello everyone a010.gif. Welcome to the weekly spend challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track.

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever. clapping.gif

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her around last year

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x

Good luck everyone.:T

  • Really have to stick to it this week as I've got just £20 left til next payday (which is early!) and don't want to be the same again after Christmas as January is such a long month for money! However, I am away for the last week of January and can't wait. Hurrah!

  • Thank you pointy :)

I was right in predicting that going down to £10 was too low and that I will crash and burn... I burnt A LOT. *sigh* So please put me in the red, very red, with bold and underlines and that may be something close to how badly I failed :(

So back to £15 this week, just so that I don't crash and burn and spend loads of money again.

    Evening all,

Pink you are not alone in having a bad week as there are a lot of reds, fingers crossed £15 is your magic number.

I spent £8 on roast pork rolls at the german market and £12 on groceries and stuff to make millionaire shortbread for my colleagues at work. Total so far £20.

  • Pink it must have been one of those weeks as I went totally off the raills. I was so cross about it as I had been going okay.

But this week Im pretty busy so hoping I dont have time to venture to the shops and spend money .
    Weekly Spend Challenge £20
  • thank you pointypenguin and chuggingtongirl for your kind words :)

I'm sure other people did have legit reasons for going over their budget, spending on things that they needed... I, on the other hand, blew my budget totally out of the water on YARN... *sigh* Never go into a yarn shop to wait while your OH goes off to do his errands.

I will just have to make most of the yarns I bought & turn them into presents or something. In the mean while, they are looking very pretty in my bedroom.

Pointy, may I ask what millionaire shortbreads are?
  • Morning,

Millionaire shortbread is a shortbread base with caramel in the middle topped with a layer of chocolate. They usually go down a treat.

  • Morning all,

Sorry to hear about peeps going over budget. I came in at £10.60, which is green for me, but I feel I should be put down as red because I blew £20 on coffees :o over the weekend. I have a nasty latte habit :o

I have £14 in my purse, so I'd like that to be my budget for the week please.

Better luck this week everybody xxx
