How to Avoid International Cost While Sending Text
Hello all
Seems Im new here, but I have been in the shadows and reading and browsing for quite a few months!!
Anyways im registered might as well give some info out
Right IF you send a text abroad, it will cost you 20p maybe because its international. It does not even come into the free text allowance!!
I, for one, find that very annoying espeically when the phone companies decided to change this like 2 years ago..
I text a lot abroad and wanted to get round the charges.
Say you have family or friends or loved ones abroad and constantly text them, it might be worth giving them a UK sim card. Any UK sim card.
I sent an Orange card to my fiancee. Since im texting a UK number, it comes into my free allowance.
Im saving a lot on what I would usually pay like 20p a text!!
Just posting this tip incase someone is in the same position as me..
Hope this piece of information helps a bit..

Dahool, I am an Australian with a O2 pre-paid phone.
There is a special Bolt-on that can be used in conjunction with all other Bolt Ons.
It is a once off fee of £5, allowing the owner of the sim card to send all international text for only £0.10.FatCatFares - Cheap flights for all, not just Fat Cats!0 -

great tip, thanks for sharing it!
Theres an even cheaper way of texting abroad from your phone if your phone can do WAP or JAVA. If you signup at http://www.vgsmail.com
they let you text to the UK and abroad for a flat rate of 3.9p!! (plus you will have a small charge for accessing the internet from your mobile, but it should still work out much cheaper than the price of a normal text)
and the best part is you get some free credits after signing up to test their service out to see if it will work on your phone.
its a great service, highly recommended
PS you can also use the vgsmail service from your PC via GenieTexter. Though there are a few services that let you text internationally for free from your PC, see the genietexter website for more details.0 -
hah. not as bad as orange PayG who take 10p from your credit for texting internationally, but never deliver the text. >:(0
