Online tyre sales

Hi,

I am looking to buy some tyres online. Normally just need two so go to the garage but this time i need four so really worth shopping around.

If i buy 4 tyres online. How do i get them fitted?

Do most tyre fitters fit tyres you bring along or do they only fit what they sell?

Most online tyre sellers offer the option of fitting, they have arrangements with various tyre fitters around the country.

I have never found cheaper tyres online, I price them up and then phone local companies who will nearly always match online prices and with a bit of bargaining you can usually get them for lower prices than the online sellers.

I recently bought two new tyres. I priced up brand and other less well known brands, there was very little between online and a high street tyre service.

I opted for a local garage and got two 'budget' tyres on recommendation from the owner. Saved £25 per tyre.

    Personal unbiased service.

One thing you may want to consider is buying them (with alloys) from ebay.

May sound crazy but will explain.

Lots of people buy standard cars and then put whopping great aftermarket alloys on them (with new low profile tyres as required)

This means they then sell their brand new alloys (with brand new tyres) on ebay.

I recently purchased 4 shiny new alloys with top spec tyres on them with a good 8mm of tread on them for a couple of hundred quid. Paid thirty to get them balanced and fitted at a local tyre place.

Wife who has same model car spent £300 at a local national tyre place in mid range non branded tyres.

It is a bit complicated (and in my case wanted the alloys as well) but could save you a couple of hundred quid on a set of 4 wheels if you were to sell the alloys on afterwards.

Look at etyres and event tyres.

These both fit tyres at your home or place of work.
    They are very competitive.
  • I've done it through Blackcircles before.

The price I was after for a particular tyre was cheaper than anywhere else I could find locally, including the fitting.

Blackcircles didn't actually list the local garage by name, but it wasn't hard to find. I phoned them direct rather than booking through the website and they were willing to match the price. That was fine by me and that meant they didn't have to pay any commission to Blackcircles.

I have used Blackcircles before - and found them V good. They have certainly gone some of the way to changing the opaque way tyres are priced. Personally I disagree with cutting them out of the loop - they do a good job and should get paid. It won't have affected you in any way. Certainly they have done you a favour by offering a good price and all you have done is deny them a rightful commission..... Lets recognise those busineses that help moneysavers!

You also have an unbelievable choice of tyre for any given size.

I used www.tyreshopper.co.uk last time and had them fitted at National Tyres.

    They had very good prices.

I think they company might be the online brand of National but cannot confirm.

I used these too for 2 rear tyres , they worked out cheaper by about 20% rather than going direct to National.

One word of caution, the website prompted that I book also for alignment, for which I paid £25.
On arrival at National, they laughed, said the rear on my car could not be aligned, and I had to instigate a refund.
