Storing your wedding dress

Hi all
I've read you have to store your wedding dress in acid free paper. Does anyone know where I can get this at a good price? And if I wrap my dress in acid free paper, then put it in a vacuum storage bag, will this be okay rather than put the dress in a box?
Thanks

Hi vicker,
I bought a special box for fifty quid from my bridal shop that came with all the acid free tissue paper in it. but if it's cheaper to what you suggested then all i would say is i know how creased my dress gets in a box so i think vacu packing it will leave it in a bit of a mess maybe wrap it in tissue and store it in a plain old box would be just as good without crushing your dress with the vacu pack bit. just my opinion. xxIt is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt

Have a look on ebay. Theres loads of people that sell the ph neutral dress boxes for a lot less than £50

I would have to ask why you wanted to keep it?
Have you considered selling it and releasing some of the money you invested in it for something else?
You have your pictures of the big day, will you ever wear it again?0 -
My wedding dress has been wrapped in acid free tissue paper and stored in an old suitcase in the attic for almost 9 years.
You can buy a roll of 5 sheets (500 x 750 mm) for £4.29 inc VAT from Rymans the stationers, code 2220046160 - flexocare tissue paper.
If you go through Quidco I think you get 5% back.

I have a romantic notion of my daughter wearing it on her wedding day...I want to give her the option anyway, and if she doesn't want it, maybe I can sell it as a vintage item:rotfl:0 -
It depends on the dress. Mine had a fitted bodice, with an organza overlay that had tiny seams, and it was the right length for my height. It could have been let out or taken in due to the style, and couldn't be taken up due to the way the fabric lay round the bottom.
I decided I would be unlikely to have daughter who would have the exact same size body and be the same height as me. I put it on ebay and another lady loved it. I'm pleased she got as much pleasure from the dress as I did.
I did keep my first wedding dress in one of those jumbo plastic clothes storage bags. It never got looked at again, and just sat up the loft gathering dust. I put that on ebay after getting divorced too. Here I go again on my own....0 -
However you store it you should get it cleaned before you put it away.0

I just put my dress in the wardrobe with the intention of selling it! cant seem to find anywhere to sell it though! would only get 30 pounds on ebay for it! even though i paid over 200 pounds for it!
There are a few on ebay as this is where i bought, starting price 39 pounds and no one is buying! so why bother
Put in ad in local paper, no one rung:rolleyes: will have to get it cleaned and stored away now though;)0 -
