Hi everyone
I have learnt from this site so many things and so I am sure someone will know the answer !!!
If I want to make organic yogurt in my Easiyo maker, how will I make the yogurt thick as I can not find organic milk powder anywhere. I want to use Yeo Valley as the starter, have organic milk and now I am stuck ?!
Thanks alot,
Bek

I think you could get away with using Soya milk powder I've made Soya yoghurt using boxed soya milk so I cannot see why using organic soya milk powder wouldn't thicken an organic cows milk yoghurt.
Have you tried using full cream organic milk as full cream milk makes a thicker yoghurt than semi or skimmed.? You would then get the added Health benefits of soyaMy weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program

I'm going to give yougurt making a bash. I bought the River Cottage family cook book last week and I think its grat. He puts his milk and yougurt starter in the airing cupboard over night. I'm off to get a thermometer this afternoon0

I make yoghurt in the Easiyo. I use Total yoghurt and UHT whole milk (OK so not organic) which used to end up thin but I can't bear the taste of dried milk so my solution is either to strain it through a sieve OR (and the cunning of this will leave you utterly breathless) to put slightly less milk in the jar... just half an inch less makes a big difference, I find.0

I make yogurt with scalded fresh milk or UHT milk from the pack - no milk powder. When I have two litres (I make 1litre pots) I line a colonder with muslin and pour the yogurt through. You end up with really thick, greek style yogurt in the colonder that you tip into a container and keep in the fridge. The whey that has dripped through into a jug gets used for my chickens' porridge.0
