Soda Stream Drinksmaker £15

I don't know if this is everywhere but there's a Soda Stream (okay an Aqua Sparker) in the Aldi in Bradford City Centre (Valley Road) for £15. Bought some concentrate from Tesco's and tested last night - all good. A look on the Soda Stream web site reveals that the cheapest model is over £50.

Just thought I'd share this with you guys.

Cheers RIch

  • I really don't understand why anyone buys Sodastreams these days... take the cola for example. Once you factor in the cost of the syrup, the cost of gas refills, and the fact that real Coke is not expensive (£1 for 2 litres), you end up paying at least twice as much for your drink. And on top of that, it tastes more like the Tesco Value cola than proper Coke...

If you buy the flavours it works out to about 32p per litre, not including the cost of the machine. This is cheaper than branded colas but more expensive than supermarket colas which are about 20p per litre. I prefer the taste to supermarket colas and it's nice to have a larger supply on tap without needing a lot of storage space, and not wasting all the plastic bottles is good too.

And it means 'er indoors doesn't have to lug all those bottles back.

Besides how many times have you fancied a G 'n' T and had no 'T'. Problem solved with a Soda stream a a bottle of 'T' Syrup!

By the way this page has DIY instructions for home carbonation if you fancy building your own. The guy who wrote it is a bit obsessive but seems to know what he's talking about. Getting your own large CO2 cylinder and refills in the UK seems to be a lot more expensive though. Also the SodaStream system is not quite as inefficient as the guy makes out, as it only uses about 10% extra gas to agitate the water while it's carbonating.

This thread made me laugh. We were only just talking about it on "It used to be Posh but now it's not" I said my friend used to be posh when I was a girl cause she had a soda stream, and here they are, even I can afford one now !!!!
