HELP! Ruined wedding shoes with a week to go!

I need help!
My other half, during our last dance practice for our first dance, has managed to stomp all over my wedding shoes :eek: leaving black scuff stripes down my pale blue suede and satin shoes :eek:
I plan to take them to a dry cleaner but the earliest I can do that is Wednesday. Is there anything OS I can try?
His shoes were new so he hasn't put polish on them - we think it is a black substance they put on the edges of the leather soles to make them black.
Obviously I don't want to wreck my shoes by trying to clean them but to be honest they are pretty ruined right now so I don't think I CAN make them worse.
I am gutted - they were expensive and I wanted to be perfect on our big day - but I want to try and do something to salvage the situation if I can as I'm not sure what if anything a dry cleaner can do with a shoe (they can't actually dry clean them can they?)
PLEASE HELP!

I'd try brushing them with a suede brush.. if it is surface grot it should come off.. failing that I'd take them to the dry cleaners.. there may be a maguc thing they can do to get rid.
I wonder if a light spray of hair spray and the brushing would work..
Speak to the dry cleaners first.. see what they think.. like you say.. you can't make them worse??LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Bear in mind that anything you put on them is likely to leave a watermark.
With that disclaimer out of the way, I've spent the last few days experimenting with things to clean my white satin wedding shoes (I'm getting married in September and bought a second hand pair to save costs). I tried water and washing up liquid dabbed on with a cotton wool bud with marginal success (it did leave a water mark). I also tried methylated spirits again with a cotton wool bud, which worked better and dried to leave no mark at all (dry with a hairdrier asap). Apparently from what I've read you can take them to a dry cleaner but most wont touch shoes with the proverbial bargepole so its always better to ring and ask first.
I hope you get them sorted, I know how hard it is to find the exact pair of shoes to go with your dress, it took me over 4 months of looking before I settled on a pair.:A:A:A:A:A:A0 -
A very fine light coloured sand-paper might work on the suede. Rub it gently. It will of course take a thin layer of suede off and hopefully the black stain with it.0

That won't work on the satin though and as I paid £400 for them I didn;t really want to sandpaper them!:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Have you tried ringing the maker of the shoes? They might be able to recommend a method of cleaning for them.0

Not yet - it happened today so I am just trying to formulate a plan of action.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

Something I've heard of to use on satin pointe shoes is economy white bread smallish bits rolled and squeezed a bit so it's like a dough-y blue tac and then use it gently on the stain like an eraser. It won't harm the shoes and is worth a try I should think.0

I have used that miracle eraser from jml. It has worked on scuff marks and allsorts. I reckon it is worth a go. Failing that they could perhaps re dye over the top..
Your day will go really well, as they reckon it is a good sign if something goes wrong beforehand ( if that makes sense...)It's an old wives tale, but honestly a little thing in comparison to the rest of your life.
Be assured that you will look beautiful! and no one will be looking at your feet.
good luck

Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
I used to use eucalyptus oil to clean scuff marks off white shoes but not sure if it will work with yours. Try the JML sponge - not so drastic as using a liquid.
Good luck and best wishes for your happy day.

Thanks for all the ideas and sorry for the melodrama of my OP! I've looked at teh shoes again and it's not quite as bad as I thought although they ARE marked it isn;t the worst in the world and I'm sure with a bit of cleaning of some kind they will be OK enough that no-one will notice. Will try bread and teh eraser thing, plsu will ask the dry cleaners in case they can suggest something.
just blooming typical this happens with one week to go!:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j
