I think it was a helpful post not pontificating myself.

I think Klondkyke told it like it is - the reality. Some charity shops are small and you just cannot keep everything indefinitely waiting for the elusive buyer.

Also one of the charity shops I go to often has books for weeks on end and it can be really tiresome looking at the same ones over and over again. They have to turnover maybe every two weeks or even once a month to keep stock fresh.

Two I like really keep the books so reasonable in price that they do sell quickly. Normally 50p paperback and £1.00 hardback. At those prices, everyone wins.

It is the shops that sell them for £1.99 paperback and £3.99 hardbacks that I don't even look in - it is too tantalising!!!

Much as I would love to pick over the unsold stuff, I just don't have the time to get into it on that level :)

Morning folks, just hit my first sales pending  Odd thing is, I can't see the buyer's email address when I search my orders using the order #, it's just a blank. How do I go about contacting the buyer to see if they still want the book ? Cheers muchly in advance ;)

  • Hi minx - have you looked on your 'transactions' page? there should be the listing ID, the order details with the name and address of the buyer etc and the email address.

Yikes, it's so slooooowww on here at the moment that it's taken me yonks to find the link and in the meantime AT has replied.

In case it helps, here is the explanation I gave Angela on the previous thread - I always found it tricky to find the pending transactions, although maybe it's just me! :o

Edited to say if it's still blank there, then I don't know what to suggest.
  • Slooooow indeed - it's Martins tips email day, should we blame him?

Thanks for the tips both, unfortunately it seems the email address is well and truly missing :( Ah well, will relist as my gut feeling is, the sale won't go through

Still painfully slow on here I see.

I've sold a low value item today and really can't be bothered to make a special trip to the post office just for the sake of a cop. The postage 2nd class is 71p. I've got a 47p stamp here and a standard gold 1st class stamp, ie 30p but it has 1st on it rather than a value.

The question is whether I'm ok to put those 2 stamps on to cover the 71p second class postage, or will the reference to 1st cause a problem? My gut feeling is that it should be fine, but there's an element of doubt. Can anyone advise.

    Sorry if it's a dim question :o
  • My vote is for *****drumroll***** it's OK, it all adds up to the correct amount

I've done that before loads of times on light items. The only problem is you won't have a COP as you say but as it's low value take a risk!!
