Can you get retention deals from O2 simplicity?
I've just got a good retention deal from O2, Online 30 for £15 and £150 cashback works out as around £6.66 a month for 400 minutes 1000 texts 18 month contract. My wife is with t-mobile and is not being offered a good deal, so I've got a PAC code.
Retention deals seem to offer the best deals (other than t-mobile) if I purchased an O2 Simplicity £10 (9.78) deal direct from O2 (£23.33 cash back via Quidco) 300 texts 150 minutes. After 6 months do you think I could phone up and see if I could get a retention deal....?
Anyone have any ideas please, particularly those who work for O2. Of course hopefully O2 will continue to offer good retention deals, and will not go the way of T-mobile.
Thanks, Ed.

I understood that o2 simplicity was a 30 day contract (ie you can give 30 days notice at any time) therefore I doubt that they would offer a retention deal (as you could simply cancel 30 days later)?

I think you may have misunderstood - I think the OP wishes to know if O2 would offer a retention in the form of a contract if you have been on O2 Simplicity.
I know that that Vodafone and Orange have certainly offered retention deals to keep SIM only custom.0 -
That makes more sense!

Yes they will if you have been with them for a long enough time. You will be treated like a contract customer with the same minutes allowance tariff.
Example, if you're on Simplicity £20 for 18 months you'll be treated like a £35 contract customer when negotiating.
This is only from my own experience with calling O2 about 4 months ago, things could be different now.0 -
Many thanks, as stated what I want to try to do is to use my longevity on my contract to get my wife a good deal in my name.0

i have been on O2 simplicity £20 deal for 3 months. couple of days ago called to get PAC but was offered same deal for £12.50 without contract. so stayed on as 600 minutes and 500 texts and unlimited internet bolt on is pretty good deal. I think the minimum period before you are offered a retention deal is 3 months.0

I am on an 18 month contract which is due to end soon. If I wanted to switch to simplicity, can O2 match what other providers are offering?Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £18,886.270

I like the sound of that, had you used more than your bundled minutes and texts in the three months? Phlik0 -
Thanks - these deals look good to me.0
