For some reason my PC sound has died on me , for no apparent reason. A friend who is more tech than me has had a look over and says the sound card is still functioning correctly. I thought the speakers were playing up and got another set today and still nothing.
I never used to get problems like this on my zx spectrum
Can anyone offer any troubleshooting suggestions ?
Thanks

check mixer settingsEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Check the system volume settings. You may have inadvertently muted the sound.0

My friend already had a dabble with the system restore and still no joy and clicking on the speaker icon along the bottom of the screen still shows everything being turned on0

did your firend say if it was "on board" (built into the mother board sound) or a soundcard on it's own
there is a known problem with the on board AC97 type sond cards stopping working for no particular reason...cured by downloadng an updated driverEx forum ambassador

Hi
Have you checked that your onboard sound is enabled in BIOS?0
