Its the major time for blight on tomatoes, so here is something you can do about it.
The weather has been very wet and warm recently, perfect blight weather, I've just discovered blight on a couple of plants.

Its time to clear out alot of the old leaves and make a much more open and clear plant. Cut out all the old yellowed and curled leaves, also any in front of the fruits stopping them getting light. You must leave enough for the plant to live on, but you can really take an awful lot off.

I remember seeing in France, tiny little skinny plants, with huge fruits hanging off them and only about 10 leaves, it works for them.

Clearing them out will enable you to see all the leaves and check for blight, any dodgy looking leaves take off and bin, you must be vigilant if you see what might be blight. Every day check all the plants and remove any nasty looking leaves and fruit.

Clearing plants will also improve airflow and mildews etc, allow more light in and make it easier to see whats going on.

Its a nice day, happy gardening!

My basket of tumbling toms has been badly hit by blight this week, along with a couple of the outdoor toms. Everything in greenhouse is ok so far though, touch wood!

I've not had blight yet - I sprayed mine twice earlier in the year with dithane. My Toms have been trimmed back as per Lotus-eater's post in the last few weeks and they are looking fab - skinny but the fruits are looking huge. 90% of them are heritage varieties, with a couple of moneymaker just in case the heritage ones didn't come off.

Ok, so some months ago I started growing toms from seed,
I transplanted them to grow bags when they were about 10 inches high,
They then took off like mad, when they were about 2foot i thought i had too many plants in the grow bag so again transplanted some to another,

Now each bag has about 6 plants in each split by the little dividers in the bag (if you know what i mean)

I bought one of those plastic green houses as the weather has not been fantastic, and feed them on a weekly basis,

They are now about 4foot tall with lots of green toms on them,

Have been trying to prune off the leaves to get more light to them,

Should i now remove the green house(it open all the time anyway)
and is there anything else i should be doing,

one for future what the recommended amount of plants in the grown bag??

    Many thanks
