Halifax Reward Current Account Problems

I recently opened a Reward Account which was approved. I transferred some funds into it from another bank which haven't been credited. After a 15 minute phone call today, I was told that this account cannot accept transfers via the faster opayments system and that I must go to a branch to pay money in. Anyone else with a similar problem? Is it true? If so, it's more trouble than it's worth - I live 10 miles away from any bank branch.

All three of my Reward accounts accept faster payments. What's supposed to be so different about yours?0

Was it the first payment that failed ? That happened to me when I created my first halifax account - tried to fund it initially by a faster payment from elsewhere, but that bounced. Was told that the first payment had to be by cheque as part of identity checks. Once the account was established, it all worked normally, and once you are an established customer, new accounts can be created with 0 balance then funded by transfer (internal or external).0 -
My first payment went by online banking the slow way, but I put that down to LTSB's FPs still getting into gear.
I've sent to two Reward a/cs by FP this week and it went through fine. I haven't sent any cheque.0 -

i am having a similar problem, however mine showed up initially but now dissapeared, according to those who have replied to my posts its an issue that occurs rreguarly with new accounts and shoulld sort itself in a few days and that the money would be in a holding account
this is the thread where people have replied on my issue, and they have also included a few other post links http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=2021943MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -
I have my salary paid into the Halifax Reward every month, but I am not in control of the day in which it goes in. As the day it arrives in my account varies between the 30th/31st and the 1st of the following month, I have missed out on the reward a couple of times due to two salaries being credited in one month and none the next (i.e. July payment went in 1st July, August payment went in on 31st July - not 1st August and September payment went in on 1st September). I have written to the Halifax about this but they say there is nothing they can do.
It looks like I will have to go in and physically take out the £1000 and pay it straight back in. Has anyone else had this problem?0 -

Thats just an unfortunate consequence of where your payday falls and its interaction with weekends. Your employer pays you early if the 1st of the month is on a weekend.
No need to physically draw the cash out just open another Halifax account such as a web saver then transfer the money over and back again. Will only take a few seconds using online banking and you don't need to leave the house!0 -
Having got my new password, have just logged in to checkk the 3 accounts I opened yesterday Few questions:-
1) - 2 show the £100 deposits(paid in cash) the 3rd has a a zero balance - is this normal?
2) Is the web site always soooooooooooooooo slow
3)Tried to setup a new payee - select the "new" option - nothing loads
4)Tried to move £99 between accounts - again hitting the transfer button - nothing loads
Is this to do with them being new accounts? All info gratefully received - I was hoping to transfer back out the £300 I put in yesterday - looks like that's a no no.
I have had a websaver acc and a websaver reward acc for a long time - but don't login very often, and just in case its all browser related I use Firefox0 -
The Halifax internet banking has been a bit like wading through treacle for me as well over the past few days (also using Firefox).
From memory, there was a post yesterday which suggested that things were better with MSIE - can't confirm that, as I haven't tried it.0 -

Just tried with Firefox.
All works ok here. I have not noticed the site being slow either.
The inability to transact on the accounts is most likely to be because you are a new customer.
It will probably be all working as expected tomorrow.0 -
