Intensive driving course?
Have any of you done or know of someone that has done one of these intensive driving courses, and if so how did it go? My daughter wants to try it as she has very limited time on a week to week basis. Also, which is the best way to find out which is the best driving school for this! I don't know of anyone to ask. I would appreciate any feedback please

Emm in all honnest It will cost shed loads of dollar to do this type of course, better off booking 10 lessions up for £100 odd and then giving a try at your driving test. Also theory test might take some time.

Friend did the intensive course and failed test! She said that it tried to teach you to pass driving test and not to drive!
She has since passed...third time lucky after having lessons every week. It has taken her about two/three months and cost over a 1000 quid!!!
She does say that the intensive course was very tiring and that she would not have done it again. Saying that though about 17 ish! years ago my hubby did intensive and passed first time....smug he is as it took me two attempts!!!
Good luck to your daughter. She can only give it a go!Water!

I think I'll move to where you live. 10 lessons round here will set you back £200 at least.
My colleague's daughter did the intensive driving course. She said the same thing as has been said here, that she was taught to pass the test not to drive.
Fortunately she failed the test. My colleague went out in a car with her and was terrified. She has now insisted her daughter have regular lessons over a period of time, rather than trying to learn to drive in two weeks.0 -
Yer back in the day, I took about a year to pass, sounds long, but only doing 1 hour per week.Kind Regards

Before you do any Intensive driving course you have to pass the theory first and I think to get the best posible mark for that you need a few lessons to get the 'feel' of the road and gain practical working knowledge of what all those silly signs mean.
Dont just go with BSM or the AA, it does pay to get quotes and see what other people have said about their driving schools. I've been with BSM for 2 tests and had to pay £20.50 an hour but now im with a new school (local for where I live) and she only charges £16 and has passed a few people I know (and shes not an a**hole like my old driving instructer).
I noticed that your in Devon so I had a quick look for IDC and heres hwat I found:

I don’t know about BSM but the AA Driving School operates as a franchise. This means that if you know an instructor who lives near you, you can approach them directly and will pay less than the normal rate.
In our case, my wife spoke to an AA Driving School instructor who lives around the corner from us whilst walking the dog. He quoted £16 per hour where as if you book through the AA site, it’s £20 per hour for the same area and probably the same instructor and car.

Hi all,
The majority of the comments here are correct. Intensive courses if managed well, can save you money and can be practical in the time saved. We always recommend an assessment first, so we can tell if you can do it in 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 etc lessons. Take no more than 6 hours a day...
To be honest the best way to do it, is around 4-6 lessons max a week for most of/all of 10 weeks. No matter which way you choose to do it, from scratch, you always have to apply/take your theory (2-3 weeks), and then once pased, apply for test and wait for anytime up to 8 weeks.
So if you can do more than one lesson a week, but don't do 30 in one week, thats TO much info to take in in one week.0
