Hot Dog Anyone?

Ok I know the weather is getting extrememly hot and I was just wondering if it was worth starting a kind of 'how to look after your animal in the hot weather' thread.
For example Bruno is my first dog, so I am a notice to any sort of weird doggy behaviour training etc so keeping him cool is always something that has concerned me. Especially as my dog is totally white to the point he looks albino - i only found out this morning hes more prone to sun cancer and skin conditions because of his colouring too - i never knew that - only he was more at risk in the sun (thought overheating etc if im honest - god knows why)
Anyway so any tips for keeping pooches/kitties/horses/any other fur babies cool can be useful to everyone so wondered if anyone fancied sharing
Heres my few (or what Bruno gets)
So what other things does everyone else do?

Heres my few (or what Bruno gets)
- Hes is in a tiled shaded hallway most of the day. (the front door is there but we only get sun on our garden and door in the morning so its not hot
- Any windows that lead to the hallway left open for air to circulate it
- He has a fan which clips to the top of a doorframe that is left on for him
- He gets his frozen kong toy with a yummy filling
- Ice cubes in his water
- Bottle of water kept cold in firdge (plain tap water) to refill his bowl with
- Hes sprayed with suncream if we go out to reduce his sunburn risk
- We have a portable doggy drinker (the bottle in the dish thingy form poundland) which we fill the bottle from bottle in the fridge and take ever walk wiht us whether its 10 minutes or 2 hours
So what other things does everyone else do?
Time to find me again

The reason Bruno will be more prone to sunburn and skin cancer is because he is white, meaning he has less melanin in his hairs and skin, same as us. When he goes out in the sun, pay particular attention to his muzzle and ears as the hair cover on these areas is less dense - smear some suncream on by hand if necessary (as long as you're sure he won't lick it off!).
Same applies if you have horses with pink muzzles. And especially owners of white cats - always try to put suncream on your cat's nose and ears because white cats are very prone to skin cancer caused by the sun.0 -

Mine's not getting any more walks until November! As soon as the sun comes out, even if I walk her early morning or evening, when she hits a patch of grass it's the dying fly impression with her legs waving in the air. Either that or rubbing her nose on the grass trying to get the halti off, (neither of which is doing her grass allergy any good at all.)
My main problem is keeping her out of the sun, as she will sunbathe till she gets heatstroke given half a chance.
Sorry about the lack of helpful suggestions, but after a 1/2 mile walk has just taken nearly half an hour, I needed to let off steam! All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
We get a paddling pool for our pups. Great fun for them and a good laugh for us.0

We've left a patch of long grass at the end of the garden. When the Sun has moved round it's a lovely cool and shady place to sleep.
You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

My old alsation simba who is running around in the clouds used to get really hot and bothered in the summer. one day id just clipped my oh hair and decided to clip simba as well, he did look a bit of a mess when id finished but it was like a weight had been lifted off him if u know what i mean. He went mad running around like a new puppy.0

I always add a small piece of sulpher block to my dogs drinking water
You can usually buy it in a tub from pet shops, I find it helps a lot and lasts forever!!'We can get over being poor, but it takes longer to get over being ignorant'
