Ebay. Who should give feedback first?

Hi there.
I've been buying and selling in small on ebay recently.. built up 40 feedback prob half and half buying and selling. All good.
My question is generally who should give the feedback first. The buyer or the seller? I'm worried sometimes that I'd give feedback then get neg... or I feel like the other person is waiting for me before they give me good feedback! Could be me being paranoid but a few of them hadn't left feedback after a week. The day I left feedback, they then left good feedback!
The other prob is one item took 3 weeks delivery. The guy said he had been away but I wasn't to know. Once again he wouldn't give feedback until I did so I gave him the good feedback as with only 40, 1 neg would take my percentage right down!
So for future reference, should i conceded? THanks

Here we go again.
Here's an ebay employee suggesting that buyers should leave it first:

I agree. I'd post my reasons but it would be about the millionth time this month and I have more fun things to do, like poke my eye out with a blunt forkMy TV is broken!

Lol you make it sound like its been asked many times? If so i do apologise. Most other posts seemed to be simply aimed at being worried abotu neg feedback rather than the who should give first agreement[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Hi,
As a seller, i always wait for the buyer to leave feedback 1st. that way i know the item has been received and they are happy.
Not read the link above, but thought that was a little harsh, even though you ended with a smiley!0 -
Who cares?
I usually leave positive feedback as soon as I am satisfied.
For sales that is when the buyer pays and the money is safely in my Paypal account, the cheque has cleared, or I have the cash in my hands.
For purchases it is when the item arrives and I have examined it and I am satisfied with it.
If I am less than satisfied I will negotiate with the other party, usually successfully to date, and then leave feedback. I have had a few situations with serious problems but all have been resolved satisfactorily and I have then left positive feedback.
I like to get feedback in return but I don’t really care that much, especially now my feedback is over 150 on over 200 trades and 100%. I never chase for it or beg for it. Some people don’t bother leaving feedback and it is not for me to tell them otherwise.0 -

When I'm selling, I usually wait for the buyer to leave feedback first. I understand what you mean about paranoia, OP when your 100% rating is lowish that a single neg will look significant. My main worry is if there's a problem like lost/damaged post or unsatisfied buyer and they neg me before giving me the chance to rectify the problem. I don't sell high-end expensive items so I'm not a target for scammers anyway.
Now though, if the buyer doesn't leave me feedback or notify me of receiving goods for about a week or two, I will leave positive feedback regardless and just keep it brief and factual like 'fast payment received, thank you' or something like that. That way any potential buyer checking out my feedback has some sort of record of how each transaction went, from my side at least and hopefully it will reassure them that I'm reliable0 -
I'm never worried about who leaves feedback first because I have nearly always left positive feedback and always like to pay quickly too so get good feedback in return. But if someone hasn't left me feedback with a week of me doing so then I send them an ebay msg as a gentle reminderYou should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs

It's me isn't it? I jinxed it by explaining the drinking game and the 'who leaves feedback first' question yesterday.
OP, don't think we are getting at you for asking, we're really not but this gets asked all the time and always ends up in an argument.
In future my response will be:
Q: 'who leaves feedback first?'
A 'Whoever wants to'.
